Thanks, this was one of the best skits.

I got a fever. And the only prescription. . is more cowbell.

So, the Soarin building will be connected to the Land building?

Disney dont build in front of guests?
Well i guess my trip this year just happened to coincide with tour groups from Brazil who happend to be wearing hard hats when visiting Asia at AK and taking part in the backlot tour at MGM.

I agree with the earlier post, this is a lot more to do with cash flow, than the length of time it takes concrete to set. Most European parks build new rides in the seasonal months they are closed, when the weather is pantsand days short.

Why is Soarin' going to be an exact copy of California's? Shouldn't they do a Florida movie version? Disney is reallly missing the big picture if they don't make a Florida film! :hammer:

This is something that will celebrate 50 years to disneyland, meaning, it will be a "gift" from the resort....

I'm sure a new film will come when the celebration ends!

I think we will be getting some type of WDW related stuff in the video... :lookaroun I've seen choppers over WDW on every visit for the last 4-5 months... At one time, there were 4 all in view, at the same time...

Has anyone been on Soarin' at DCA??? Is it just me or does it not look that impressive. I saw a special on Travel Channel where they talked about Soarin' for a few minutes and I saw guests riding it and I didn't think it looked all that special. It just looks like a giant screen with guests dangling overtop of it.

I hope Disney beats my expectations.

I think that is what it basically is. From what I've been told from a friend, the difference is actually being on the moving gliders and raising into the Imax "curved" screen, along with the smells, etc. added.

While it sounds stupid and boring, its a REALLY GOOD RIDE. It's got lots of movement too, so it really feels like your flying. You have to experence it to understand it.

I agree with Testtrack, although the ride system for Soarin may not be that complicated or thrilling, the attraction is truly one of the best I have experienced. The peacefulness of gliding through the air over majestic natural wonders and human achievements combined with the Jerry Goldsmith score, motion base effects, and scents creates an experience that takes you someplace else (exactly what Disney aims to do). The attraction will not terrify anyone due to scares (only those fearful of heights or prone to motion sickness) and has a low height requirement of 40" (it really could have no height requirement if they devised a new restraint system, but part of the experience is the freedom on the lapbelt only restraints sidenote: according to the Center for Disease control over 50% of 4 year olds are 40in in height.)
If you are looking for out of this world thrills you will be disappointed, if you want one of the most peaceful, relaxing, enjoyable experiences in WDW you won't want to ever leave the Land again.

I have done Soarin at DCA numerous times. It is an extrememly pleasant D ticket in my opinion. The opening part where the music, The lift off of the mechanism and darkness turning into light and a cloudbank on the screen is wonderful. The rest is quite nice with some nice scenery and some sort of average scenery and shot of downtown LA at night that is sped up making it a less than spectacular shot. There is a hidden Mickey and some interesting smells. The movement of the seats is not a huge factor, the range not being big. It is presented in a theater that is not themed, when you walk in you see the seats and the apparattus (quite impressive looking) that lifts the seats, you see the screen and the interior structure as well as the console that the CM sits at. It is more like an attraction at a Worlds Fair.
I enjoy the ride and most of the scenery and the music score but it still doesn't feel like and E-ticket to me. A very nice D-ticket.
