Why Imagineering may be one of the greatest art forms...

I truly believe that Disney is THE example of how art (imagineering) is the greatest form of not only entertainment, but the best way to capture the emotions and imagination of individuals. When you step onto the property, you are no longer in the real world. You are in this wonderful place, from which you don't want to return to the real world. NO OTHER company in the WORLD, has shown the capacity to reach the human emotions better than Disney.

And I for one am grateful for it.

Not Necessarily...look up some architecture firms...Morphosis, Rehm Koolhaas, people that have been involved in urban renewal and planning. Disney is the architecture of reassurance, its make believe and mainly facades...creating housing like Kahn did...that was affordable to the masses of lower class citizens has more of a touch on the human emotion than disney does. Disney doesn't provide a shelter or dwelling for people...its an escape

Good point!! There is a significant difference, it seems, between creating something to help people / end suffering of some kind in their lives, and to create extremely positive experiances for a short time, like hanging out with Brer Rabbit, which is one of my personal favorite activities.

But don't forget that Disneyland was "made with love," and some very emotional, personal touches. And this form of escape does help people very much. Still, the experiance is very different form, say, a home, yet I don't know if one is better than the other. For me, escapism is a very powerful experiance at times, like when I'm enjoying a trip to a theme park with friends or family.
