Why I like Aladdin's magic carpet ride, and other things

Put me in the trash it camp. It's awkwardly placed, a redundant experience, messes with crowd flow, doesn't match thematically, and ruins the terminated vista that the Tiki Room should be creating as one walks westward thru Adventureland. This section of the park could use a little more but this wasn't the right answer.

Aladdin’s Magic Carpet, in my personal opinion, is standard, mediocre carnival fair. What makes it worse, however, is what it replaced. This area used to have beautiful Middle Eastern and Asian influenced architecture featuring ornate corbels, minarets, and a few quiet secluded courtyards and corridors. I would put that theming that used to be there up on the level of DL’s New Orleans Square and MK’s Caribbean Plaza. Sadly, now the area is a dumpster fire of cartoon tents and (plastic) rainbow banners.

I am getting really tired of Disney using this spinning carni stuff. It is such a cop out. There are three different versions of spin rides at MK alone. Dumbo, Aladin, and rockets......enough already.
Now little green aliens. I think Dis really dropped the ball on this one. Soooooooooooooooo cheap.

I like astro orbiter, but that's due to its location its height how it looks at night and the view and cool breeze on a nice night. You put it on the ground in a different area and id agree. LOCATION LOCATION lol and night time helps.

To be fair, Alien SS is based on a Whip-style ride (a first for Orlando parks) and not a spinner. But I hear where you're coming from.

I don't like when Disney replicates other rides with different themes. The "aerial carousel" was cute on Dumbo but then they did the Astro Orbiter and the carpets. 3 in one park is a lot. Now there's the one in AK... Too many lol. I'm sure it's easy/cheap to replicate but not very creative.

I like Dumbo because the ride concept fits the IP perfectly, but I can do without all the others.

Playing Devil's Advocate Apprentice Armchair Imagineer; what else could Imagineering have actually put here utilizing the same smallish footprint? More classic carnival fare? It's another spinner; but it works.

For what it's worth - I do hate it.

Here is why I like it? The line is rarely long, and it is an attraction. It keeps 50-75 people occupied (riders, and ones in the lines).

That is one head scratching passage you got there.

Curiously you like it because it is relatively unpopular meaning short lines, right??? .......but yet ultimately you want it to be popular as in long lines to absorb guests who would otherwise queue up on other attattractions throughout the park.

hehe, I remember doing this thread and thinking it would largely be ignored. Man oh man did I set off a firestorm, haha. I know this ride irked people but I got a better taste just how much it does.

No, seriously, I like how Disneyland does things when it comes to utilizing space. Look at the amount of attractions compared to Magic Kingdom. This leads to shorter lines all around I think. People are spread out more. I wish MK did more of this. Now, I get it, Aladdin is in a very awkward spot that does look out of place. No argument there. I wish they themed it better and maybe put it up in Fantasyland or something like that. But I like it because it seems to load pretty fast and it absorbs some people. Plus it is a magic carpet. Aladdin is very much underrepresented in Disney.

Yes, it is. And woefully underutilized.

Which is why I have always felt one should be moved to DHS just to switch it up a bit and give the kiddos another ride just for them.
