Why doesn't the Cheshire Cat have a meet and greet at WDW?

He sometimes, comes out for special events at DLP.
To be fair, they do have Alice, White Rabbit and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum out for meet and greets regularly at Mad Tea Party. Mad Hatter is in the night parade. Queen of Hearts comes out for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

I'd say Alice has a very strong presence in the parks.

You mean the day parade?

But who decides who is a 'rare' character? So many characters that no longer meet shouldn't even be considered rare to begin with. Like, you know, Pinocchio, Jiminy, Br'er Rabbit ... among MANY others. WDW has cut a lot of meets over the years. Dopey disappeared from Epcot. Jiminy from AK. Pinocchio from MK ... Who makes these calls? I guess it's more important to have a billion Anna's, Elsa's and Mickey's.

Sum it up:

WDW Management doesn't like rare characters. They cause "operational issues" and long lines mostly because when someone does appear all craziness breaks loose.

Paris has Cheshire. If WDW wanted him they would have to pay for him to be made.

Of course they wouldnt have long lines if he & everyone else wasnt rare outside the Fab 5 & the Princesses.....

As you're astutely pointing out, every one of those used to be AM or PM town square. Jiminy used to be DAK and sometimes DCOH. And Dopey would pop up on a regular basis. All these cuts were over the past 10 years so we could..... make our numbers?

Yep, all of them were out at least around 2006/2007/2008 (when I started hitting the parks again before another long break until last year). Well, Br'er Rabbit was "rare" then I guess (maybe he was at AK?) but at least Br'er Bear and Fox had a regular meet in Frontierland ... they've been relegated to villains events and dance parties.

.... while we've supposedly doubled capacity for the princesses, tink and the fab five.

Wasn't Photopass merging with Entertainment strictly a monetary thing so entertainment could make its numbers, install MM&Y (now CtM) and continue to give good shows without making cuts?

True^ if they just made it a point to have surprise characters or even more meet and greets this all wouldn't be an operational issue. Bring em out and keep em out and then the "craze" dies and they become apart of the standard show. Disneyland operates with tons of walk around characters wdw could do the same the problem is when you have 1 in a large area that just won't work.

Yup. WAY more important, as a matter of fact. Though, lest I let you get away with gross hyperbole, there's exactly ONE place to meet Anna and Elsa. Not a billion. Not three. Not two. One. But nice try.

Let's say you're going to open an ice cream stand, eh? Your freezer has room for three tubs of ice cream. Are you going to stock chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry? Or butter pecan, pistachio, and orange sherbet? Probably the first bunch, eh? The ones people care about and pay money to enjoy.

True story: I was at the Magic Kingdom yesterday and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb went skipping by on their way back stage. A grand total of zero guests tried to stop them for a picture and I heard more than one ask "who is that?" Converseley, when Tigger walks by it's a mob scene. So why no cheshire? Because nobody cares except the Disney crazies. Rare characters are a bonanza for lunatic off duty cast members and lifestylers, but do very little for the satisfaction of regular guests.
