Why do you think Disneyland preserves their classic attractions better than WDW?

I don't think it's sad at all. I don't share the belief that "older" means "better" when it comes to themed entertainment.
Money post.

I get the allure of nostalgia, but believe it or not, there are plenty of us out there who want Disney to keep up with the times and push the envelope with new rides and attractions. And if that means that some older, outdated attractions have to go, then so be it. As Captain said, older most certainly does not necessarily mean better.

Just my 2 cents, anyway.

As much as I loved it and rode everytime I went... uoe was past its prime. IF you looked at reviews of the ride it was "great place to take a nap" "you can have a row to yourself to enjoy the ac for this 45 min snoozefest"
It only got popular due to it being removed. The building should stay and the water out front... but even updated... a 45 educational ride in todays age??? Peoples attention spans and wanting thrills this was not a popular ride. And Disney is giving them roller coasters because that's what the vacationer wants... This is why I ride the land and spaceship earth everytime I go... because these rides are the dodo birds of theme parks.
I think Disney has went to far on shortening ride time.... hour wait for a 4 minute experience is a little stupid, but if you look at what we have been getting.
There will come a time people will miss the speed way (I'm in the minority of wanting it to stay), and other rides that will disappear (eventually not starting rumors), but honestly if mr toad, 20,000 leagues, and the old snow white were still here people would be like... THESE NEED TO BE REPLACED.....
Now I really wish we could have rethemed the 20,000 subs even if they were just for show in a lagoon like around dlp spacemountain... or became nemo (I don't want nemo, but theres something about clear water and those jules verne looking subs that take you to another place)

Not only all of that, but the science-y attractions of old Epcot age too quickly with modern technology being what it is. Ellen's Energy Adventure wasn't just outdated as an attraction, it was flat-out factually incorrect on a lot of the science "facts" they're trying to share. The pace at which technology changes means that even an updated education Energy ride would be obsolete in a year or two.
