I'm not a big fan of Cinderella Castle. I guess I never have been. I could be biased because, despite going to WDW every Summer in my youth and never visiting DL until later, I had this souvenir book that had a photo of Sleeping Beauty Castle with the Matterhorn looming in the background. It's one of the first images I ever saw of DL and I always wanted to go. They say the grass is always greener on the other side.
Cinderella Castle is lacking something, or maybe many things. It's kinda fugly, the colors are kinda gaudy, it kinda lacks dimension. The age-old argument that size doesn't matter and Disneyland's is more charming and historic and thusly better, basically holds up. One of the best differences is that you can go into the Sleeping Beauty Castle and explore. I know there's a restaurant and some other things in Cinderella (which you can't see), but all I see whenever I look at that one is an empty shell. The forced perspective doesn't really work well for it. Sleeping Beauty is smaller, but feels grander somehow.
Just my two cents.
