Why did Lion King close?

Does anyone know why The Legend of the Lion King Stage show closed? I was never a big fan (I only saw it once), but considering it was still a packed house and the Lion King is still a huge seller,
I was wondering if they had reasons to close it before constructing PhilHarmagic

from what i heard, it had to do with the contracts with the union actors running out. I have heard the same about the Huntchback of Noterdame. WDW only plans shows to run for a certain amount of time.

OR

A 3D movie, long term, is ALOT cheaper to run then a live stage show.

OR

there is a lion king show at DAK, and its basically an eride for them, so it stayed.

OR

Eisner is a big fan of Philharmagic, and where else could you put it? It would be out of place in TL, AL, FL, LS, and no room in toontown, so Fantasyland is all thats left. And other then 20k, lion king theater makes the most since, as a 3D movies played there in the past.

Because Disney has to destroy an attraction to build a new one--its just the way it is.

I'd say it's because it got redundant, with Festival over at AK and all. Granted, it's not the same thing, and Legend had all those neat puppet and movie effects, but Disney probably felt they didn't need 2 shows with the same theme. And since you can always have the story of Lion King at home, and Festival is more interactive...

Philharmagic is in the building that the Lion King used to be in - They couldn't build Philharmagic until Lion King was gone.
One another note - I enjoyed this version - very different to the AK show.

Actually, Im not all that sad to see it go, the puppets were average by disney standards and if you see either the AK lion king show, or the broadway/west end musical it really pales in comparison. Everyone i know thought it lacked, but i know we all ave different opinions, but anyways i think PhillarMagic sounds like a lot more fun :sohappy: :sohappy:
