Why aren't more people talking about "The Magic, The Memories, and You"?

We just got back from Walt Disney World (February 25 - March 6) and our biggest best suprise of the trip was "The Magic, The Memories, and You" show on the Castle! It is really amazing and unlike anything you've ever seen.

Our question is why aren't people talking more about it? It's not even being promoted. It's not on Disney's website, it's not listed on their calendars, and it's not included in their guide maps or times guides in the parks (however, they do announce it on parking tram and over the loud speakers in the park). When it is advertised all they show are photographs being projected accross the Castle. But it is SO much more than that!

The projector technology is so amazing, the way it literally paints and animates the Castle so perfectly. And the effects they do with it are mind blowing. You'd think it would only look good from straight on, but we saw it 3 times and from different angles around the Castle and it still looked great!

It absolutely holds it's own as a Magic Kingdom night time show alongside Main Street Electrical Parade and Wishes. And with it being between MSE Parade and Wishes, it's a great time-filler while you are waiting.

We really enjoyed it and suggest it is something you make sure you see. We were just so confused why we hadn't seen more about it on WDWMagic or being advertised by Disney. Maybe they're still considering it in testing, but if that's the case, I'd say it's good to go!

Thanks,

Pioneering the Universe Within!
I think it is unquestionably the best nighttime show the Magic Kingdom has put together. The technology and things they do with the projections are incredible. Just awesome. We watched it 4 times on my recent trip.

And the photographs are the least interesting/ impressive part! It's everything else that's amazing.

I didn't think anything could surpass Illuminations on my list of nighttime entertainment, but this just might.

I just watched a video of the first show and was blown away! The music and the technology are fantastic. Are the pictures only from MK? Are the pix only ones taken by Photo Pass photographers? I can't wait to see the show in person next month. If I see a picture of DH, DS, or DD up there I will burst into tears!

I just saw the show three times a few weeks ago, and each time my jaw was on the pavement. It truly is incredible, moving, and one of the most impressive new things I've seen disney do in years. Also, my daughter was on the castle two nights in a row.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, go. I'm a true Mousejunkie, and I was completely ignorant of it until it suddenly appeared between the parade and the fireworks. Verily, I can't describe how cool it is.

Good question for sure. I saw the video posed on this site...actually the iPhone app version of this site. The video was amazing!

Wife and I can't wait to see it in person when we visit the world this May11'. I'm sure in person it's even better! The way they change the castle to make it look like fluid and a rocket taking off is way KEWL!

BUT...sorry I see absolutely no comparison with Epcot's Illuminations and this new night show at the MK. We've seen the Epcot show once...by choice. I am not impressed with that show at all. The ball is outdated...it needs redone. Fire effects now-a-dayz are a dime a dozen. That show is just about fire - fire - fire. Can't stomach it. Much like the famous “cob-salad” at the Brown Derby…had it once…and was not that impressed. It’s like some intertwined cult…you either like it and praise it or not. Put me on the list of NOT on both of these items.

This new show, whether you like the personal pics or not - I'd bet if YOUR pic was on the castle you'd have a different comment, is by far one of Disney's best. Projection technology, UNREAL! There is a LOT going on in this show. AND my wife and I just can't wait to see it LIVE!

I have seen it a few times now, and it is fantastic. I think Disney knows they are in a tight spot though. I get the impression that the show is supposed to stop after this year and a new campaign begins for 2012. While they have every reason to be thrilled with the response of the show, I don't think they want it to be promoting it as a "permanent" nighttime offering. I think they want to minimize the complaining when it is discontinued.

The show tech was awesome. The show itself? Eh... From our viewpoint by Caseys, we couldn't make out most of the actual pictures being projected. Much easier to pick out Tinkerbell or something when its not perfectly flat, than a picture of someone in the park.
Although in talking to a CM 2 weeks ago, (not a bus driver or ride ops) they told us that some parts of the show were being tweaked? Not sure how true this is. They said that some things had been removed to help with the pacing.
I personally am looking forward to the follow up shows that use the tech to its advantage.

We just watched it on our trip last month and it was awesome, my kids were blown away by it and I have to admit my wife and I were as well.

I have seen the show once now, and I agree that it is very well done, and I was very impressed with the quality of the graphics on the castle (although it is pretty hard to see the show if you don't have a good spot pretty close to the castle, it's not like watching Wishes where you can be halfway down Main Street and still see it pretty well). That being said, I think Disney missed the mark a little with making this their marketing campaign for the year. The show is cool, and the idea of making memories is good, I just feel like they should have done a little more for their "theme" for the year. It just doesn't live up to some of the themes they have had in recent years--Year of a Million Dreams, What Will You Celebrate...these had more elements in the overall theme and had more to offer guests (the free admission promos are always nice, and they carried the theme over to buttons and other things throughout the parks). This theme just seems to be a little lacking. There are a few signs up, and there is this show--and like I said, the show is great, it just doesn't seem like enough on its own to sustain a whole year's theme. Am I wrong??

I was a skeptic of the show before I actually did see it in person. I watched it a few times over the weekend. While I really did not enjoy seeing the guest pictures on the castle I do have to say I was actually blown away by the show. It is really awesome but you should be close to the castle to really just see the detail that is happening.

I watched it on Sunday night, it was amazing. I sat right in front of the castle just because there was a few open spots and I needed to sit after a long day and it was truly magical. It was very well done and I wish I could go watch it again.

(It was also on my times guide)
