Why are their computers down so much?

They use for the most part run of the mill, IBM terminals for their CRS in their gift shops and Restaurants..Working for the leader in the POS market. I wish they would finish the job and put us into their parks not just into the cruise lines. The productivity would skyrocket, seeing is how we already have six flags, knotsberry farms, and more theme parks. We know how to run them right....Come on Disney...MICROS is waiting.

I wish they'd use that for their hotels and interface it with a better CRS. DPMS is the worst property management system on earth. Lanmark, which should have gone away with the dinosaurs, is IMO a better alternative.

The version of Siebel 7 being used by the Disney Reservation Center is sub-par at best. The folks at Oracle (who now own Siebel) are not happy with it, and have been looking at alternatives (Siebel 7.12, Siebel 8) and are exploring how to get one of those newer programs to populate with Dreams, DRS, DPMS and such. The Siebel Groups system is much more consistent, however it doesn't pull NEARLY the amount of workload that the DRC's Siebel does. It's very difficult to keep up with what's new in software and what's going to run the quickest, while still servicing hundreds of millions,

yes, hundreds of millions,

of calls every year.


BUT hopefully an upgrade to Siebel 8 is not far off, and would enhance both backstage and on-stage areas, as it's capable of "speaking" with CDS and Workbrain as well. We shall see.
