Why are some threads moved?

It seems to me like some threads that are legimate Disney News stories are legimate Rumors are being moved to other forums. Can I please hear the reasoning on which news and rumors qualify for this board and which don't? I am just curious.

Irony

You wanna know what the most ironic thing in the world is? This threat will probably get moved into another forum too.:brick:

It is up to the moderator's discretion as what topics he/she feels belong under what categories.

I think it's kinda pointless since the thread remains in the original category listing in which it was posted, only it is labeled as "moved." That means it then appears on two lists - the original category and the new "moved-to" category.

I say if you're going to move something, just do it. And take it off the original board. No need to tell us it's been moved.

Well, I'm gonna step out on a limb and take a guess (several, actually).

With over 8,000 members, and probably 200 fairly active members, Steve has his hands full with this part time interest of his called WDWMagic.com. The main emphasis has always been Walt Disney World, but Steve has allowed for several other forum topics, some Disney related...some not. Considering the wide range of topics this board covers, I think organization is key to keep order from turning into anarchy.

Just looking at "Tower of Teror Rose Parade Float Info.", I can see why it was moved. It has nothing to do with Walt Disney World. I can see why "Haunted Mansion Movie Set at MGM" was moved. This thread, "WDW Parks News and Rumors", is for breaking news and rumors about new attractions at WDW parks. I can see there's a fine line between the HM set info being News or General Discussion, but Steve runs the site, and I'll let him wrestle with such hair-splitting dilemmas.

As far as the "moved" link being left after a thread is moved, Steve could probably disable this, but maybe he's leaving it out of politness to those who are following that thread.

Then again, this post doesn't belong here. It probably belongs in "Website Feedback/Comments" or as a PM to Steve. Then again, I'm just guessing.:)

DMC-12

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
I dunno.... Why is there 20 million threads, alone, just on monorail expansion.

Not to mention the 50 million threads on the 20k lagoon, Mission:Space, & Philharmagic.

Not being mean here or anything... but...
Maybe because people dont know how to read first, THEN post?

Then again... it may just be one of lifes little mysteries.... we may never know.... :animwink:

(Kidding Kidding... I kid... so dont even think about flaming me!)

Sure :)
The news rumor board is called "WDW Parks News and Rumors", so it is specifically for WDW News/Rumors. Any other types of rumors (such as DL, Movies etc) have their own specific boards.
I know lots of other sites have a general news/rumor board which deals with any kind of Disney news/rumor topic. I prefer to have things categorised pretty well so that it forms a useful resource for people to look and search through over time. So if I have a board named "WDW something.." it really should only contain WDW specific info.

If there are any threads you want to know about specifically, just let me know and I will let you know why they were moved.

Hope that helps.

It does have the advantage of moving the post to the right place. This then means that anyone looking for DL info for example, will find it in the DL board, rather than finding it dotted randomly around the others boards. The "moved to" link is a curtosy to anyone who has been following that thread in the orginal board that it was posted in.
