Why are so many resorts unavailable?

We were shocked when we had trouble getting reservations at POP or any of the values. My husband worked really hard checking to finally snag a reservations. We have never had that problem before even going on a last minute Christmas trip. We have a day off from school the beginning of October and are taking out grandchild on a real quick trip to go to the Halloween Party.

There is absolutely nothing available for November 4-11 time period! I mean only campsites, GF Villas at $480 a night plus Bay Lake I believe. It's crazy! I know there were discounts, but what's going on? It doesn't seem to be "defaulting" to specials. It says literally nothing is available! I was quite surprised! The special goes off sale tomorrow, so I wonder if anything will change at that point. I thought it was just the "crazy messed up" website. Any thoughts?

I'd check again in another week or so. I'd imagine that many booked for the deals over the summer (like the free dining plan) and that now, as we're approaching the deadline to pay the balance in full, some might be cancelling the trips.

There's the aforementioned "Jersey Week".
Veterans Day (Nov 11th) falls mid-week so even if schools only give off that one day it's likely there are parents willing to take kids out for two days before or after it to turn it into a long 5-day weekend trip.
Also the end of Food & Wine.

I literally just made a reservation at the POFQ for November 8-11. I made the reservation on Monday, four days ago. I did call though and did not use the online reservations. I got the Florida Resident rate, which was $225 per night (tax included).

I also noticed no availability the week of November 8. (I got in early for AP rates but even then it was only ASM and Coronado plus some deluxes.) Friends of mine wanted to go the same week but couldn't develop plans until much later. Now, they're shut out. Maybe it's related to the last week of F&W and the first week of the Osborne Lights with the draw being the lights and knowing this is the last year?

Wow! The crowd levels haven't seemed to adjusted to that! They only go up to about 8 one day. It's anywhere between 5-8 crowd level-wise! It seems like with all of the resorts sold out that the crowd level should be 10! WOW! Just WOW!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

That's crazy! No big deal really. My husband had some time off that week, and we thought we'd try to go, but I don't think I want to especially if the "deals" are off and it seems like it will be quite crowded!

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. We're local AP and going to the last Friday MNSSHP on the 23rd. We like staying at the values the night of the party that way we don't have to deal w/ parking and trams before, monorail/ferries and driving home after.

When I first looked for just the one night, nothing was available but the super-premium rooms. Tried expanding to 2 or 3 nights since my son has no school that day, a few deluxe's available, but nothing on the lower end. If I change to 5 or more days, miraculously there are plenty of value options including my originally-searched date (s). I get that they would rather hold that room in the hopes of filling it w/ a longer stay, but at what point do you realize you probably aren't going to be getting many last-minute, week-long vacations at the end of October and start releasing rooms for all booking types and rate levels.

The whole room booking system is such a face-melting experience, I'm just glad I hardly have to go through it.

There isn't a direct correlation between Disney-owned resorts being full and crowd levels, as there are many more offsite accommodations/rooms than there are onsite.
