Hi Folks!

So to start, i recently created a thread looking for info/pics/experiences from MVMCP!

Well i got a response drom Tom (AKA WDWFigment) with a link to his Flicker pics from Christmas 2008 in WDW and i was blown away!!

As always all his pictures were amazing but i was particularly amazed by his shots of The Lights Of Winter at EPCOT!! So so amazing and what a beautiful way to enter The World Showcase!!

So why must they get rid if these?? Cost Cutting?? Old Technology?? And if so can they not be updated to LED Lights??

Unfortunately i have never seen them in person and im sure the people who have must have been even more upset but the thought that i probably wont ever see these is crazy!!

If anything shoulod be returned to EPCOT surely The Lights Of Winter must be near the top of the list???

PS. If anyone has any pics to share or links to pics of The Lights of Winter please feel free to post them here so those of us who have not seen them may get some kind of idea of what has been taken away and so those who have seen them can relive this amazing christmas addition to EPCOT!!!

There's a number of threads out there about the LoW not being displayed, their being shrink-wrapped in white plastic behind EP, and some posts about their possibly returning in 2011.

This is what Disney had to say on the subject:

"Note:The Lights of Winter at Epcot has been enjoyed for years. But tech to operate the lights is obsolete, prompting us to retire the lights."

In MK it was a wonderful Christmas season... in DHS the Osborne Christmas lights made the streets of America as light as day...

Meanwhile in EPCOT it was August or something.... No Holiday here, Move along!

The LoW did definitely set the stage for the spirt of the Holidays for Epcot.... hopefully WDW is working on a New LoW for the area in 2011 that will make us smile even more brightly...

Those are great pics. If you look close enough at the first one you can see the rust spots all over the massive white frame. The lights were nice at night, but an eyesore the rest of the day. That's not an excuse to replace them with " ", but I think they can and hopefully will do better than the LOW.

Anybody think that there may be any truth to this???

Let's hope we get the Country Bear Xmas Show back in the Magic Kingdom that year as well!

Yes, I do think they will do something similar.....eventually. I'd be happy, in the meantime, if they used the budget formally used to set up the LoW to remove the BAT (aka purple tarps).

I think Disney could make it next-gen by replacing every light in LOW with a little monitor screen and each of them could be filled with a post on WDWMagic that relates to them removing LOW
