I'm wondering if the Paris equivalent of lights of winter will be up this year, I'll be over there next month to check :xmas:

This is what Disney had to say on the subject:

"Note:The Lights of Winter at Epcot has been enjoyed for years. But tech to operate the lights is obsolete, prompting us to retire the lights."

As Prince is over that Internet fad Disney is so over that elecricity fad. The next wave in technology is thought projection, or as Disney calls it reminiscing about the lights.

Not the lights themselves. The controllers that run them. Thats what they are talking about.

The excuse is a joke, tbh. They are doing a far more technically challenging show just a mile and a half away. They can use the SoL tech to run LoW without a problem. They just don't want to spend the money to do so.
