Pre-Trip Who's This Trip For, Anyway?

Who: me, my wife and baby, my aunt, mom, dad, brother and his wife

What/Where: a nine day stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jambo House, pool view (unless my wife manages an upgrade to savanna view)

When: this December

Why: because my aunt has never been and wanted to take the whole family instead of giving us money when she dies (fine by me!)

I wanted to do a trip report for our two previous vacations and just never did it. So, I figured if I started a thread now someone might ask me when it's over for a report on the actual thing!

I'll be back with the details soon. And trust me, there are plenty!

Kudos to your aunt for recognizing that (1) you can't take it with you and (2) it's best to use it to enjoy time with you family because you cannot do #1. That's what I tell my daughter when she protests when I spend some of her inheritance on a family trip to Disney. ;)

  1. We've got tickets to MVMCP, naturally.
  2. We've sprung for the Fantasmic dinner package because I don't want to wait hours in line just for a good seat, plus, we were going to eat anyways. (I've waited with just two people before and I was literally at the farthest corner seat...hard to see much.). We've got a reservation at the Hollywood Brown Derby.
  3. We've also done the dining package for the Candlelight Processional and a reservation at Biergarten. Once again, we've got a big group and we'd rather make sure we've got good seats without waiting for hours. It's worth the price to us.
  4. Also included in our dining plans: Be Our Guest (breakfast after they started doing that; our reservation at 180 days out was for 9:10 pm...yikes); Via Napoli, Sanaa, Spice Road Table, Crystal Palace (before park opening), Kona Cafe, Boma, Beaches and Cream and 50's Prime Time.
  5. I'll also be making time for at least one trip to Grog Grotto and Jock Lindsay's.
  6. As far as quick service, we'll have to hit old standbys like Columbia Harbor House and Starring Roles. I'm interested in trying out Pecos Bills now that they've revamped the menu. There's countless places in Animal Kingdom that I've never tried, so I'll try to do that.
  7. I want to collect all the Starbucks mugs, so I'll be investigating them as well. I'm really excited about checking out the ones in DHS and DAK.

Sounds a lot like our trip! AKL, Jambo house, Pool view with our 15 month old Daughter! We loved it! I'm following along!
Thanks, I'll be checking out your TR!
Yee-haw - 9 days! That'll be so fun!
Too much! I'll have to pace myself.

You both are exactly right; you can't take it with you.

Spice Road Table is AMAZING. My best meal of the entire week, so I really think you will like it!

I too also want to collect all of the Starbucks mugs! I completely spaced our trip so I will try to remember in April!
