Good Morning Everyone, Happy faces only. Well after watching our first trip on DVD last night way back in 2004. We had 7 days at CBR ( before 7 days off site :( ) To be honest the resort didn't look that recognisable which got me thinking ( not again says Figgy ) But do you think returning to a resort you've stayed at in the past is an advantage.? Personally I do. Take PORS for example. It is quite a large resort with four mansion buildings over the Sassagoula and the Bayou section dotted all around, but after three stays there I can picture every corner and have no problem finding out where Acadian house is or Parterre Place,so what are your feelings on this,or is it just an advantage for larger resorts.?

This is why we stayed at the Poly for so many years, being familiar with everything, memories of trips from years gone by, CMs remembering us, but it was definately time for a change for my family. This upcoming trip we really needed a change, so Wilderness Lodge it is! We are all looking for something different, and the idea of a full fridge in a 1BR Villa, has my DS and DH besides themselves. LOL Iike the traditions and all every year, but really looking forward to exploring a new resort :)

We tend to rotate between the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary and the Polynesian. I like familiar, my DW and DS like a different resort every trip so it "doesn't seem like the same vacation as last time." That said I still can't them to stay on the Boardwalk...sigh. The biggest and best surprise we got was staying at the Contemporary after the refurb of the rooms, it was night and day. I hope the Poly refurb is as nice.

I have mentioned it in a different post....we have yet to repeat a stay at the same place on site. There are just so many wonderful resorts and for us part of the excitement is staying somewhere new. We love, love, love VWL and could have chosen it, OKW, which we also loved, or BLT, or several other choices, for a trip in Sept.
We almost picked VWL, but picked BLT for two reasons....location and the number one reason, we have not stayed there yet.
Everyone is different, but for us, we choose the new and exciting possibilities over the known and comfortable...and have not been disappointed yet.

WE love the excitement of staying somewhere new but love the feel of "coming home" to somewhere we already know. To know in your head where you are going to arrange and unpack everything that you are packing makes pre trip packing easy. I love coming in to the parking lot and knowing that as my 2 sons "help" unpack the car that they have a pretty good idea of where the things they are bringing into our "old faithful" standard room at POP Century will go.

However, the fun of exploring a new resort is great too -

Here is the Swiss part in me coming out - I am Neutral - I will stay anywhere as long as I get to stay where I drive under that purple Walt Disney World Arch to get there!!!

I am a creature of habit. POFQ is my home resort, as most of you know. It is especially comforting for my oldest because he knows his way around and a lot of the CMs. My DH has never stayed anywhere else so eventually I know he will want to try somewhere else. I am just fearful of being disappointed!
You could change the fear of disappointment to the anticipation and excitement of what might be. Positive thinking grabs ahold of fear and whips its little a##.

We have only ever stayed at POP, mostly b/c if it ain't broke don't fix it mantra. I really wanted to try somewhere different this time around and told my husband we were doing so whether he liked it or not. He is a serious creature of habit, and so am I. But I am a firm believer in forcing yourself to try something new every now and again. I doubt that I would ever be disappointed in any resort at WDW. We shall see come September if I was right!

I like to explore new places, so I don't mind trying out new resorts. To me, I know the parks so well (instead of counting sheep I can walk the parks until I drift off....). I kind of like the idea of going to a new resort and seeing it up close and finding out if maybe I will fall in love with that resort more that the previous one.

I remember the first time I walked into my room at OKW (before I was DVC, a friend booked me into a room) and I was smitten. My first thought was I wanted to move in and already planned where the Christmas tree would be! I bought SSR and tried that (one of the originals - I remember when most of the place was a mud pit under construction and there were just one or two buildings...) and enjoyed it, but heard great things about Wilderness...so I booked there. Loved that resort and wish I could have spent more time exploring.... Then I tried Beach Club...AK....and finally BW. Love them all, and look forward to my next excursion. I can find something new about BW!!

This is actually an issue I'm struggling with...we really enjoy trying new places, but DH and I both have our favorites (which of course are different:rolleyes: ). On top of that, I'm starting to get a bit of "I like WDW, but I'm bored with it" from DH:( ...so it has me wondering what to do. Do I stay with a resort I know I love and he likes that we've stayed at before...or do I explore something new- even if it's less convenient and less "home" like -just to keep it fresh for him? I tried doing that last trip and it didn't go well, but every resort is different and great CMs could make all the difference. Decisions.
