Who would you like to see as CEO?

Here is a question to ponder - who would you like to see most as a CEO. Think business, too, since any decisions will have to be based upon stockholder's benefits.

I don't really know who I would choose, but here is my take on the current options:

Eisner: Definitely out. But my big worry about him is that he is so into controling and micromanaging that he will put up a big fight against whoever tries to mvoe him out of the way, even to the point of damaging Disney itself.

Roy Disney: Better than Eisenr, but he said he would not take the CEO position. I also wonder if he has made too many enemies in Disney management to be able to be effective.

Brian Roberts: Quite a money man, but he has a history of sticking with his company. He also is more interested, I think, in Comcast than Disney, and his managment style is to appoint someone else to manage. I don't know who he would appoint to run Disney.

Steve Jobs (Pixar and Apple): This would be scarey! To much of an ego to run such a large company. It has alredy been seen with Apple when he returned that he pretty well drove many of his employees and many of his customers away by insisting on micromanaging and trying to control everything. I could just see it - you would have to apply to see if you qualify to go to a Disney park. All the rides would be walled off and you would be driven around in a tram and told you had a wonderful time. 10% of the Disney fans would be fanatical devotees, and the other 90% would switch over to Universal.

Bill Gates: I am not sure that this is just a rivalry between him and Steve Jobs. But I can't imagine him running Disney - he lacks the creative drive, and even more the customer service attitude that is needed. I think he would distance more guests and cast memebers than he would bring in.

So who else could become CEO?

Lassetter is an excellent chose. He brings alot of creativity with him.

The problem is what happens with this takeover bid. There's quite a few people looking to make offers and some of them could be scary.

My from-left-field choice is Toshio Kagami. Who is he?? He's the current CEO of the Oriental Land Company. I know. They're mainly in the business of real estate, but I'm thinking of the parks. They did such a great job with TDL and Disney Sea. My long shot choice. (And by long shot I mean from that planet four galaxies over long shot.)

I would love Lasseter myself. But realistically, while he'd be great creatively, I've not read what kind of business guy he is. They would need a strong Roy Sr. type to balance him out. Lasseter is also a long shot because he's under Jobs, who seems to have more clout in the current climate, and thus a more likely investor's choice.

I also think Jay Rasulo might be good. Yes, yes, I know Disney Studio Paris was opened under him, but I keep hearing he basically just had to work with the hand he was dealt in that matter. I like Rasulo because it was he who was so unhappy with Cynthia Harris at Disneyland that she "retired." Rasulo solicited input from numerous former Disney theme park execs who'd actually worked with Walt. And he is finally getting the ball rolling at Disneyland by bringing in Matt Ouimet and approving a lot of the smart changes Ouimet is requesting.

If Eisner has to go, I'd like to see Richard Cook, the head of the Walt Disney Studios, to take over. He started with Disney as a castmember at Disneyland working the Jungle Cruise and has since worked his way up.

As some of you know, he managed to have the studios bring in 3 bil this year and from all reports, he seems to be a very down to earth, even-handed, guy. For example, when he was given the job as head of the sudios, instead of electing to move to the top floor and a large office in the Team Disney building in Burbank, he elected to stay in his current office on the fourth floor.

He is well respected around Hollywood and actually can get along with Steve Jobs from what I read. LATimes did a great story on him about a month ago I believe.

Anyways, he would get my vote. Not that it means much! :D

How do you think Jay Rasulo would be with managing the media companies Disney holds? It seems that a lot of work is needed there and they need someone who can really manage ABC and ESPN and some of the other studios.

Kinda hard to say with Rasulo. I think all he has done so far is run DLP and now the Parks division. That's why I kinda lean towards Richard Cook because we know he can run the studios effectively and he also knows what its like to be an hourly cast member at the parks.

Hmm i would have to choose as new CEO the one and only... MR. T, "I pity the fool who dont visit the disney parks and use disney products" but for real if i had to choose someone i would go with Matt Ouimet he seems to have a cool way of doing things, and he also knows that to make money you gotta spend money but thats just my 2 cents.
