I will try download.com or shareware.com

Well how do you get the creatures to move or the like "camera angle" to move around a figure to make those like "flash movie" type effects. I might be confusing you but I know with Dreamcatcher Games, they have little movies triggered when you go do the right thing, how are those created? Can you do that with Photoshop (i have never really used Photoshop to its fullness)

Kinda like with animation, you make different frames.....

Yeah, I am already bored with it. Wow, I can make a mountain (they all look the same), a rock (pain in the wazoo to shape), and geometric figures, oh yeah i can add water or change the color of the sky.

So what software would I use to make buildings and things like that or BETTER landscapes? Would I use Maya, can it make buildings? What can I use to design interior spaces?

Well..at this point you can use any # of 3d packages..

Maya could do it..yes...but its a bit expensive for a beginner..

Id say look towards the free ones i listed above...get a good grip on how to handle yourself in 3D space..then move no to a better program..

Well I was talking to a friend of mine who is a programmer and owns a copy of Maya 4.5 Unlimited and is willing to let me barrow it so I can use it. He also said he would show me the basics. So I think I might give it a try and then if I am stumped, I will try those free ones.

There is no way you can legally "borrow" maya..since it uses online licensing that goes by static IP adresses. It will only work on HIS computer for as long as he pays for. The second his licence runs out, the program stops running. No matter what anyone tells you, if the program is running without a licence...it is cracked and therefore illegal.

Hey Dan...what about XSI Softimage (www.softimage.com)? You can't publish anything you create (the license that comes with the program is strictly for learning purposes ONLY), but they will send you the complete program along with TONS of tutorials in the mail provided you ONLY use it as a learning tool.

Yep..maya also has the personal learning edition..which is also free with the same restrictions...

Yeah, his copy doesnt work on my computer. *cries* but my school is planning on getting an edu. licenence so maybe i can get one of the copies. But until then I will be using Bryce 5, the programs you suggested, and he gave me a copy of a program called MerlinVR to try.

Well I think I might also try the Maya Personal Learning Edition.
