Who else is liking Tom Staggs so far?

True but it did bring in some great stuff.
Miramax, Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower Of Terror, Alien Encounter, DINOSAUR, Splash Mountain, Test Track, Mission: Space, list could go on longer.
The thing that concerns me about Iger is his love affair with "Franchises" "Brands" etc.

Ok but you said 6 year old girls would be disappointed by a comment made. That's not a point raised or what the OP said.

:brick:

I think it's perfectly legitimate to suggest that we wait and see the outcome of one of the man's first major decisions before we go criticizing or praising him. How are we supposed to form or support or opinions if we're not allowed to discuss the foundations on which those opinions have come to be? For many people, the outcome of FLE will be the determining factor in their opinion of Mr. Staggs thus far, and I believe it's a valid point of conversation. Other valid points include, but are not limited to, the lack of progress at Everest, future changes to the dining plan, and rising ticket prices.

Conversely, your snide remark that my comment was "where the thread turns negative" is certainly not on the topic intended by the OP, so I thank you for bringing us on this lovely detour of nonsense.

You can't really speak for Staggs yet in his park development because he hasn't done anything. What I do like (and I think bodes well) is the time he is spending in the parks. He was cited last weekend with his family in DCA going on rides. He didn't have his name tag, fancy clothes, or a photographer following him like his predecessor would have on his few visits (he did however had a GR host getting him in through the exit--tradeoff for all his hard work I suppose). Let's see how things go with projects that he approves and spearheads before we call him a savior or otherwise though.

Hey that's Kool and the gang let's just wait and see.

And well you didn't have to respond to my little "one liner" if you didn't want to go into this "detour of nonsense." You could of just ignored it and went along.

So far, he's been a pretty good chairman. He's already saved WDW's Fantasyland Expansion into something better than what it was going to be, what could be the next thing? Could it be him to save WDW from the evil-ness of TDO? What do you all think?

I like what I'm hearing, but he's not Jesus. He hasn't "saved" FLE, it's not like he's drawing up the concept art and doing CAD work for the rides here. He's a chairman, and that's it.

Is he better than Jay? So far, yes, but we haven't given him any time to establish his style or see any results. Lets reask this question in two years....

Yes, I could of [sic], but it's not in my nature.

Back on topic, word is that Staggs played a major role in the acquisition of Marvel, so it'll be interesting to see if he brings the Marvel brand into Parks and Resorts in some way. I assumed that the acquisition was more an investment in intellectual property for media outlets, but Staggs' promotion might translate into some Marvel influences in the Parks. I'd personally like to keep the superheroes out of it, but I think their use in any way would be, at the very least, interesting.

It is still WAY too early to make our final opinions on him just yet but I like what I am seeing.

Probably mental poisoning from Six Flags and their abuse of the DC Comics license. All I picture when I think of superheroes in amusement parks is the monstrosity of steel at Six Flags New England, Superman: Ride of Steel (now called "Bizarro").

Have you been to Marvel Super Hero Island at Uni? They did a hell of a job on that island.

And theres a huge difference between Disney and Six Flags I'm sure they'll use them to their strengths.

I have an issue with them in the parks except for Hollywood Studios. If they end up somehow in MK I will have to get used to it, but I won't be fuming mad as if they added Iron Man to Epcot or Storm to AK.

Though whenever I think of "NO MARVEL IN PARKS!" I instantly think of Star Wars: do you support Star Wars in Disneyland? What about Indiana Jones? These properties are foreign, and hell, aren't even owned by Disney like Marvel? Is it that other parks have tried the super hero thing, or that Universal has Marvel characters? I'm not saying any view is right here, it's just an interesting thought experiment I go through when I read threads like this.

I support Star Wars and Indiana Jones as parts of the park, but I would NOT be in favor of a star wars "land". I feel like the only theme that Superheroes would fit into would be a self-contained "land". The only thing I can think of at a disney park that has an entire land dedicated to ONE franchise is the Carsland that's coming to DCA, and I don't particularly like the thought.

The Stark Expo in Iron Man 2 looked awfully familiar to Epcot just saying lol.

Marvel characters belong in a city and the only 2 "cities" on property are New York Street and San Fran and Tomorrowland. Yes Tomorrowland is still considered a city technically.

Put a e ticket Daredevil ride in HS and I call it a win. With Staggs having all boys I can see it happening in the future.

DCA also has Bug's Land. Hong Kong is getting a Toy Story Land.

Superheroes can fit right into the New York theme in DHS or Tomorrowland. A land really isn't needed.

I think it'd be nice to have a star wars land.

Now, about Staggs. While it is too early, so far I like him. So ik not forming a final opinion that's simply what I think of him so far.

If Tom Staggs is the one going from park to park around the world then that's the one who just visited and made sure a camera crew was on hand to document it. From what I've read on various sites, it seems like he was there just to say he was there.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tom Staggs wasn't the one who pushed for FLE changes.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble.
