I've heard this is a fun restaurant to go to. We are going with some friends, so we will have 4 adults and 5 kids. Is the food good? Will the kids enjoy it? We are staying POR - how do you get from POR to WL? Any comments, suggestions please

:D

Thank you!!

You will love this restaurant...if you like BBq kind of food (there is other stuff on the menu). Here is a link to menus, scroll about 1/2 down the page:http://wdwig.com/menu/menus.htm#res

Breakfast is our favorite: The skillet is all you can eat. They have pony express races for the kids and they each get a certificate at the end (after their oath). Its loud and very informal and a lot of fun. Some people don't like it because of this, but we fit right in.

I'm not sure how you would get there from POR, but you can catch a launch from the MK or the Contemporary (its shared with Fort Wilderness Campground). Don't get the 2 mixed up.(many people do).
Explore the grounds, visit the geyser and take in the beautiful lobby.

By the way, don't forget to ask for ketchup and extra straws.

Whispering Canyon is great ANYtime....morning or night!

We eat there every visit and havenever had a problem getting seated without PS arrangements.

It's a fun, casual atmosphere that is very relaxing after a day at the parks.

The all-you-can-eat meals are great, but, for those who don't go for that stuff, you can order meals off the menu too that are just as good.

Our favorite add-on? The ALL YOU CAN DRINK MILK SHAKES!!!

:slurp:

To get to WL from PO, go to MK, then take the Resort Ferry to the WL.

ENJOY!!!

The only time we needed PS was when there were 9 of us. Usually just us 4 and have never had to wait more than 15 mins. for a table.

I had a lot of fun a Whispering Canyon. We did breakfast and had the skillet. There was so much food and they it coming. Their waffles are shaped like pine cones.

If you are driving from POR, there are two ways. The first is to follow the signs like you are going to Magic Kingdom. When you get to the toll plaza, get as far right as you can go. Tell them that you are going to WL and they'll let you thru. Then follow the signs.

The second is kind of a back way. Turn right onto Bonnet Creek leaving POR. Then left at the light (I forget the name of the street, but it deadends). You will pass the golf courses and then Fort Wilderness. Eventually, you'll hit a light by the Poly/TTC. Turn right and follow the signs.

At least, that's how I did it.

 WHISPERING CANYON is great fun! Make sure you checkout the link 'tigsmom' indicated and on the dinner menu check out the 'script'. Your kids will have a wonderful time-pony express rides around the dining room, etc. The atmosphere is great. From PO you can take the water taxi to DTD and catch a resort bus, OR if your reservation is during park hours, go over to MK and catch the water launch to Wilderness Lodge. Make sure you plan your return trip to PO ahead of time because your options are different if MK is closed. At any rate, allow plenty of time to get over there, and have a great time!:sohappy:

We went to Whispering Canyon last year and like everyone else said it was awesome! We took the shuttle from our hotel to DTD and then transfered to a WL shuttle... it wasn't too out of the way.

Also, on the way home we were intending to take a cab just for convenience purposes... so we asked them to call one for us outside at the valet station and they volunteered to drive us back to our hotel. It was SO nice, and in total Disney fashion. The driver was exceptional and my parents tipped him very well.

Either way, I strongly recommend AT LEAST one meal here!!!

PS Ask for ketchup!!!!!!
