Whispering Canyon question

When we ate at Whispering Canyon last Fall I had a delicious s'mores dessert. Does anyone know if that is still an option or have they gone to the sampler only? Also, if my daughter is on the adult dining plan but won't enjoy any of the entrees will they allow her an appetizer as her entree?

If she doesn't like anything on the regular menu maybe something off of the kids meal would be appealing and they might be more likely to accept that for the adult credit. Just a thought, I haven't tried it.

Regarding the appetizer: It doesn't hurt to ask. I would think, like the kid's menu, the appetizers are cheaper and you would just use the adult credit for it. There would be a problem if the appetizer cost more than the entree but it isn't. So ask them; they are pretty accommodating.

As for the desserts, I believe they only have the sampler now. We had this in April and wow they were not good. I mean, when we finish dinner, we want something sweet. Not jalapeno cheese cake. They weren't horrible but not having at least 1 basic dessert in that mix was a bad idea to me. And I was really the only one that tried all the desserts. The chocolate cake was grainy from what I remember and Apple/cranberry buckle doesn't thrill me at all. I actually prefer the old menu ordering for this restaurant. A lot of food was wasted at this meal. If your daughter doesn't like any of the desserts, they might give her just a cup of ice cream maybe. Again, doesn't hurt to ask about your options.

Good luck.

I have to agree with what you said about the menu I did enjoy the old menu for dinner more than what they have now. The desserts are okay but I'm a basic apple pie for dessert type of guy.

We had our thanksgiving meal there one year and it was fabulous. But I see no reason why they would just charge you an adult credit for choosing off the children's menu. Some servers stick by the rules though.

Thanks, everyone. I looked at the menu on AllEars and the s'mores doesn't appear. However, on the Disney website it still shows on the menu. My guess is, if you order the skillet, the dessert sampler is included. Maybe if I order another entree I can get the dessert I want. Time will tell. Guess we will wait and see what my daughter decides she wants to eat that night. :-)

FYI- In my experience allears is more up to date than disney.com

If you end up going, please enjoy it for me. The last time we went my son was having an "exhausted episode" and I took him to the room and my Wife and Daughter enjoyed dinner. I had spent all week smelling BBQ when I left my room and was so looking forward to it.

I hate it when things like that happen. So sorry you didn't get to enjoy your dinner. But you are a good Daddy and husband for allowing your wife and daughter to enjoy a peaceful dinner! :-)

Yes, this is how it as when we went in September (days after the menu changed). The only option was the skillet and dessert platter, with the jalapeño cheesecake, a Neapolitan cake and cranberry cake.

So are you saying that if you get the all you can eat skillet that the only choice for dessert is the platter?

We need time for things to happen.
We havent been to WC in years. We have adr for our upcoming trip. We were looking forward to the skillet, however those dessert offerings look like they leave a lot to be desired.

Super structures are my specialty!
I'll be honest the dessert there prior to the sampler was decent. That being said, I have always gorged myself on the skillets so much that I donnt' eat that much of it. WCC is always on our list of ADR's. If the dessert doesn't look that great, then i will just eat more BBQ and all the fixins. Then again, my battlecry is "What goes good with meat? More meat!!!!"

I have in fact used adult credits on the children's menu, so yes, you can always do that.
