Wish I could say the same. I wanted to do an experiment last year and decided to step on the scale before my trip and afterwards..Well, I weighed 186 leaving and returned at 196! Mind you we stayed at the parks open-to close...good thing I'm a gym freak;)

We lose weight on most vacations we take if we are in the Caribbean or WDW.

The most I lost in one week was 12 lbs during our honeymoon (I know, not healthy but I wasn't trying to lose weight at the time). We were in the Mexican Riveria and it was so hot I stuck to only fruit, salads, seafood (my faves), and drank water or vodka lemonades. I had one dessert every night at dinner too.

Everyday we were active - snorkeled our beach or at Xel-Ha, climbed the grand pyramid at Chitzen Itza, biked, hiked in the rainforest to swim in a cenote and kayaked the ocean. We'd come back in the afternoon, hang at the pool bar or nap on the beach and then get ready for dinner.

So now if I need to drop weight quickly I advocate for an all inclusive vacation in the Caribbean. ;)

Ha slightly true here too. When I was there last summer I was convinced I would have gained a lot of weight but stayed the same :D

However I was having huge salads for breakfast as junk food for 14 days would be a bit much :p

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I don't necessarily gain weight but I feel like a big blob when I get home. I spend at least a week "detoxing" on healthy foods to feel like myself again. But at home I generally watch how much junk I eat so when I go on vacation I like to enjoy the things I normally don't eat!
^^^ This! I feel the same when I get back also. Eating all those things I enjoy but dont usually eat at home my tummy and body is like what did you do to me?! Haha :)

I have been on Atkins for the last 3 months and lost over 40 pounds and our trip to Disney is in less than 2 weeks. My anxiety level about gaining weight is really high and the way low carb dieting works when you have an influx of carbs all of the sudden your body tends to gain a ton of water weight so there is no question walking is not going to help me. I have allowed myself to be prepared for 10 pds. Yes some of that is water and just from the nature of the diet being diuretic some of that will fall back off easily but still I know I am going to have to work hard when I get home to undo the damage. That being said I don't plan to skip dessert and we actually made reservations at Beaches and Cream to try the famous Kitchen Sink dessert. We have the dining plan so most of the meals are family style or buffet and very high carb food options are what we will be eating. Thinking of Fit bits I'm wondering how those of you that wore them protected them? If you road water rides like splash mountain or Kali River Rapids how did you stop your fit bit from getting wet? Also I want to add I ride in my car with my fit bit on and it doesn't mistake those miles for steps. That's not how it works. So to the person who suggested that it was somehow the case, I just wanted them to know fit bits are moderately accurate and usually they under calculate your steps when they are inaccurate. I have a fitbit charge and would love to see how many calories I'm burning while at disney but I don't want this expensive item to get damaged either.

I always rely on a good old fashioned Ziploc bag to keep things dry.

I tend to lose weight on my trips, but sometimes I wonder how much of it is a loss of muscle mass. I lift pretty frequently, but take off for vacation. I also don't go hog wild with the snacks, but I do enjoy myself. We usually cover about 8 miles a day according to our trackers.

I've been lucky. Every trip I go with my weight where I want it to be pre WDW. So I'm stepping on the scale now and walking more to prepare for the upcoming trip in November. Every trip I'm convinced that I'll come back much heavier because of the eating of a lot more snacks, desserts, and heavier meals than what I get at home. But because I'm up early, out late, constantly walking the food off I come home with no measurable gains. when I'm at WDW I dont calorie count or hold back on the sweets.... heck I'm on vacation and I'm treating myself to a good time. But I'm always surprised by the amount I can consume at WDW in 2 weeks time.
