Which would you choose?

Hi

We are helping some friends plan a trip (they don't have a computer) for next March. Herea re their options which would you choose?

Yacht/Beach Club at $329 a night
Poly at $344 a night
Contemporary at $264 a night
Boardwalk Inn at $328 a night
Grand Floridian at $384 a night

I think I'm leaning towards The Yacht/Beach club for them, but what do you think??

Thanks so much!

Well, it depends on their budget - the Comtemporary is a good bit cheaper looking at those prices, all from what I gather (never stayed in any) great hotels.

I've stayed at the Contemp and the Poly...liked the Poly better. My biggest problem was having to go outside to get to everything. It rained quite a bit while we were there...also got turned around on the paths at night. Had a nice room in the North Garden Wing of the Contemp...hammock outside of the sliders, sandy beach for the little ones to play in. Just don't like the decor. I would spend the extra and go to the Poly. My fav is the Wilderness, but that wasn't on your list.

well out of those hotels, I like the Polynesian the most. Otherise all those prices are a little steep, and it is really their call. They may want to do a split stay since all the prices are fairly close. Do half at the YC/BC and half at the Polynesian.

How many days are they staying? They might get a much better price if they are Annual Pass holders, which would justify the cost of the AP. You really have to do the math.
Go to www.mousesavers.com
and check the AP discount code for the time of their visit. Even if just the reservation maker is an AP holder, the discount code can be used.
Here is a page with the "break even" numbers for an AP. http://wdwig.com/breakeven.htm

Also consider which park is the one they will visit most. They will want the Poly, the GF or the Contemporary if they are MK people, the Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach Clubs if they plan to spend their time in Epcot or MGM. If they don't mind using the busses to go everywhere, I highly recommend the AKL or the WL. Great deluxe atmosphere & much better prices than the others. I've stayed in all the resorts above except the GF, ate there lots of times though!

My personal preference is either the Yacht/Beach or Boardwalk. Any of those are great. But they should also consider where they'll be spending most of their time. If it's at MK than maybe one of the MK resorts would be better. Also, I'm assuming that the Contemporary price is for a garden and not a tower room. If that's the case and they want MK proximity than I'd go with the Poly.

Meega, nala kwishta!
If they are staying long enough, and can't decide, then don't. Have them stay in more than one place. I know a few people that do this al the time. They love it and they say it's like starting the vacation over again each time they move.

Have fun!

Thanks for your opinions.

They're only staying on-site at Disney for 4 nights so I think it will only be viable for them to stay in one resort.

Thanks again!

I guess it would depend on if it's a couple or a family and what kind of things they like. My preference is always the Boardwalk. There are so many good restaurants and shops as well as oodles of things going on there on the Boardwalk at night. I like the atmosphere. I stay cheap because I go often, but we did stay there when it first opened. Had to try it. I don't care for the Contemporary. It's not as homey or fun as I like. The Poly is a long walk to everything IMHO. I am not a person who cares for the Grand Floridian really. It's too lotsy dotsy and not enough fun. The Yacht/Beach Club would be second choice for you. If they have kids, the Stormalong Bay can't be beat there. So depending on the person, I'd choose Boardwalk or Y/B Club.

If they are a family I would stay at definetely either the Polynesian or Beach Club, our familys two favorites.

Just a couple then I would say Grand Floridian or Yacht Club.

Also depends on their taste, if they are your friends I am sure you have a good idea of what they would like, water view, beach, etc.

We've been at the Polynesian in Feb. and looking at those palm trees sure beats the snow back home. It was however a little cold for the kids to come back to the room after swimming. Hopefully it will be a little warmer then, but the pools are heated anyway.

Good luck

You know your friends. So you know their personalities.....But you did ask which I would choose of those you listed. I would probably select the Yacht and Beach Club for the pool, the proximity to EPCOT, MGM, and the Boardwalk. Just my .02.
