My kids are 8 and 11 and love thrill rides. Which water park is the better choice?
Normally I'd say Typhoon Lagoon. It's a far more beautiful
park with more plants, better rockwork and decorations and lots of little trails and bridges to explore. It's just a nicer place to be at.
Blizzard Beach isn't
bad but the overall experience is really lacking compared to Typhoon Lagoon. I'm not familiar with their offering for little children but if your kids are prioritizing the highest, fastest slides, Blizzard Beach has two of them. Don't be confused by how high Summit Plummet is either, Slush Gusher is the one that really pumps up your heart rate. Blizzard Beach also has the better tube rides of the parks, but I'd give Typhoon Lagoon the edge for everything else.
Big advice, though- no matter which park you go to, plan on being there before it opens and going to the highest slides immediately; otherwise you can plan on spending the better part of an hour for each one.
We are planning on spending a half day at a waterpark and a half day at Animal Kindgom.
See, I'm not so sure that's a good idea.
First of all, Animal Kingdom closes early, usually no later than 8, and if you don't get there until 3 or 4 in the afternoon you're not going to have that much time to do things unless you scramble.
Moreover, going to a waterpark gets you
tired, much more so than the theme parks, especially if you and your kids have been treading water in Typhoon Lagoon. You're going to be hot, sunburned, and waterlogged, and this might be a good evening to take it easy and just chill at the resort for the rest of the day.
