I agree, Typhoon Lagoon is much better if you have little ones.

I've only been to Typhoon Lagoon, but I have to say it was awesome. The kids play area had a great 'water slide' for the little ones. My little one did it about 50 times and had a blast!
I didn't see any characters that day we were there.
Bring your own towels, pick a central meeting location, buy one of their refillable mugs and share with the family, remember sunscreen (I forgot and had to buy some there...very expensive), life vest are available and free!
