Which Value Resort

Planning a trip for November with my husband and 7 year old girl. Have been to 1 Moderate Resort before and really enjoyed it. I was thinking of trying a Value Resort this time. My daughter would probably love Movies or the new Pop Century. Which is better and why? I'm afraid of the Pop Century being packed. We don't like that many crowds hence the time of year were going. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rhonda

I would say All Star Movies with a 7 year old girl. My kids really love all of the All Stars but I have boys so it is always Sports Sports Sports. (Actuall we have only stayed at sports twice). Music in nice too and is usually not as crowded as Movies.

We had a bad experience at Pop Century so will not be going back there.

We stayed at All Star Movies and we really enjoyed it. That is the only one we have stayed at so I can't give an opinion on Pop Century. At ASM we had a nice time looking at all the pictures on the walls. I think the food court had a nice variety of choices. The rooms are small, but there are only 3 of us, and since we basically only slept and showered, it was perfect.

Good luck and have fun!!!

I agree with Chris and Raven. Having stayed at both ASMusic and ASMovies (and spent a great deal of time wandering about ASSports), I think a 7 year old would really love staying at ASMovies. I would recommend you book a room in the Toy Story buildings. I suggest this because the Toy Story buildings are probably the most fun and easy to relate to for a girl her age. The Toy Story buildings are also (in my opinion) the best themed and most kid oriented. There is tons of eye candy, and the playground, main building/food court/game room, and large pool are the close to the Toy Story buildings as well.

I have yet to visit Pop Century myself, so I really don't have an opinion about that resort.

I agree too - All Star Movies is your best bet.

I've stayed at all 3 All Stars, and whereas they all have pretty much the same features, the theming is the best at the Movies.

Plus, their food court is much bigger.

I enjoy staying at Disney's All - Star Movies Resort. The entire resort is great. I prefer it to some of the Deluxe Resorts.

I stayed at all of Disney's All - Star Resorts and by far, Disney's All - Star Movies Resort is the best!

You CANNOT book a room in any section other than the preferred (Fantasia, Calypso, Surf's Up, and the 60's). It doesn't matter what CRO or your travel agent or anyone else says.

No rooming request are guaranteed. You can request to be put there, mention it again at C/I, fax it in, etc. It's much easier to get into a specific building, floor, theme, etc. during the slow times.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard, well I was promised Dalmatians, Toy Story, Jazz, Football, etc.

Especially at the All-Stars, many many groups (cheer, bands, colleges, high schools, etc) stay there. Most rooms are pre-blocked. Basically it boils down to what you're blocked at is where you'll stay.

For small children, Movies is the best.

Music seems to be the most quiet.

Sports seems to be more run-down, because of the amount of sports stuff that goes on there (kids playing, etc).

I like Movies the best. The food court seems to be the best and getting to any of the buildings isn't that bad of a walk. Definitely not Music, Sports, or Pop.

Interesting info TLB. I'm staying at ASMO 5/20-5/23 and have requested a smoking room. Any idea where I might end up ?? I'm not expecting a certain section nor do I really care, since I wont be at the room that much, but I was just wondering if they push the smokers to a certain section. Promise, wont hold ya to anything !! Any info would be appreciated.

I'll take a look tomorrow and see exactly where the smoking rooms are. I don't think there are any in Dalmatians at all.

For everyone, just remember, there are only so many rooms in each theme, building, floor for all resorts. Groups usually get put in Love Bug (6 and 7 Movies), Rock and Country (3,4,5,6), and some Broadway (7 and 8) at Music, and Tennis, Basketball, and Baseball (2,3,4,5,8,9) at Sports.

Checking in at 10 pm on a Friday, won't allow us much flexibility as far as trying to find something that you won't. If you don't like it, don't get mad. There's only so much we can do.

Some resorts (All-Stars) are much more difficult to allow you to pick where you want because there are so many groups checking in. Other resorts have more flexibility as far as picking a general area in which you want to be.

I'd love to put everyone in Toy Story if I could. I just can't unless you want about 20 people staying in each room.

Nope...booked a room in both Country at ASMusic and Mighty Ducks at ASMovies through CRO...they guaranteed it, and when we got there, we got our requested rooms, and it was during July 4th each time.

I would stay at the Sports or Movies.

I have stayed at all three on many occasions. I have also requested a specific area and got what I wanted every time.

This may be luck, but it has happened!

Have fun!

Is THAT TRUE??? A retired military personel? My grandpa was a Vietnam Vet. He is now retired. Can he get us in? Does he have to be with us?

They shouldn't have. CRO doesn't do room assignments. Was there something that you requested other than the building?

Probally pretty easy to get something in both Mighty Ducks and Country Fair, two of the least popular themes.

Nothing else other than that. It was a pool view room at ASMovies and just a regualr room (obviously) at ASMusic.
