Which set scenes are sacred at Storybook Land? What would you like to see?

That wouldn’t quite cut it. The Monorail has a big presence at DLR. It’s also iconic. Maybe not the current trains design so much. History, Icon status, quality, popularity, presence/ visibility and impact on atmosphere are the factors I considered making my list.

Now I will say even though my list was in no particular order Monorail did actually come in #10 for me. There’s a lot of sacred stuff at Disneyland.
Well that’s the thing, as I said the current trains need an update if it’s to stay on that list in my opinion. Otherwise if it’s just to keep it around for the view of it going over the lagoon then just put it on a loop that goes around the area. And then reclaim the rest of the track for other land use.

The Autopia Trees are #13 on the scared list. Can’t do that.

Why do they need an update? I like the current design. (Don’t love the wraps but that’s another thing haha)
Have you ever ridden in them when its over 85 degrees outside?

There is a reason why they are closed after like 3pm (maybe even earlier on some days) during the summer a lot of times, they are miserable to ride in when its hot, its unsafe. The current model wasn't designed with AC units for guests, and as I understand it they just can't add an AC unit to this model. They need to be updated not just for that, but also unless I'm mistaken this model is almost 20 years old at this point, so its time for a refresh.

Have any of the DL monorails had AC?

It’s not a particularly long ride - I’ve definitely ridden them when it’s warm! Haha. I’m not against AC though but it’s kinda fun to have the open windows.
I won't bet my life on it, but I remember the Mark V having AC in the 80s. They never shut it down in the middle of the summer back then that I recall.

Unless I'm wrong (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am) its only since the Mark VII was introduced that it didn't have AC as far as I know.

I remember them having open windows when I rode them - but that doesn’t mean they didn’t have AC. But it seems odd they would take the AC out when the rebuilt them into the VII’s

Dunno, could have been costs, etc. But the rumors I've seen around the interwebs is that the current voltage isn't enough to handle the additional load from AC units. So that might have been part of it too.

Anyways the whole system needs to be updated if its to stick around. And hopefully that'll happen at the same time when they realign the beam for the Eastern Gateway.

Didn't they build the new VIIs on the cheap and didn't include enough power for AC that it draws from the beam? They also didn't allow the windows to be open. People had to ride in hot trains during the summer until they retrofitted in windows that could be opened.

Seems to me like a simple solution is to put high power cooling fans at each station so when the train is sitting at the station there is good air flow.

Its not just when the train is in the station, its when the train is running it too hot for guests inside the cars once it gets past like 80-85 degrees even with the windows opens. Again its the reason why they don't run them mid-day during the summer.

And then they found out even having the windows open it didn't help, and its when they stopped running the trains at mid-day during the summer.

Paris replacing Oz with Up on their Storybookland Canals is so stupid. I get that Oz isn't a popular Disney IP, but Up isn't even a storybook. Makes no sense.
