Which set scenes are sacred at Storybook Land? What would you like to see?

Storybook Land is a beloved attraction and has been at the park since 1956. Throughout the years, there has been updates to include Aladdin and The Little Mermaid in 1994 (which was the same year that Paris’ version opened) and Frozen in 2014 which replaced “The Old Mill”.

Storybook Land in Disneyland Paris is getting some updates this year such as Winnie the Pooh, Frozen and Up. These are possibly replacing some duds like Peter and the Wolf and Return to Oz (yes, that scary Wizard of Oz sequel).

This begs the question, will we be getting updates within the next few years and if so, which set scenes wouldn’t you mind seeing go and what movies would you like to take up residency?

The ride currently showcases “The Three Little Pigs”, “Alice in Wonderland” “Aladdin” “Frozen”, “Cinderella” “Mr. Toad”, “The Little Mermaid”, “Peter Pan”, “Pinocchio” and “Snow White”. I wouldn’t mind seeing Alice, Mr. Toad and Peter Pan leave for sets representing Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and Moana. What about you, Discuss…….

I don't think replacing Alice in Wonderland, Toad, or Peter Pan, who doesn't take up much in the way of room, would be ideal. I think the Three Little Pigs might be the most expendable, given the space it takes up. I don't think Moana fits the aesthetic of the attraction well. I think what makes the most sense is to do Rapunzel's kingdom, complete with the tower, Snugly Duckling, and castle, with miniature lanterns "floating" and illuminated nicely at nighttime. Given that Frozen and Tangled take place in the same universe, its proximity to Arendelle in the attraction also makes the most thematic sense, imo.

Last Sunday when I was on it, one of the guests asked the CM what was there before Frozen and she said it was windmills and mumbled something about Don Quixote. I just kept my mouth shut.

It jogged a memory of me taking a pic of one of the windmills in May of 2014, not long before it was replaced.

Fun topic @MK-fan, thanks for thinking of it! :)

It's been so long since I went on Storybook Land, I think it was around the 50th for me when they spruced it up majorly and I went to check it out. Just before the 50th, the nephews grew up into bro-teens and it was pretty much all over for getting them on stuff like Storybook Land.

That said, one thing that I think could easily be redone is the cave you go through behind Agrabah. There's no need to make Aladdin into such a major part of that ride. Keep Agrabah and turn the cave into some other thing from some other movie that had... a cave.

I'm at a loss as to what, but that's why I'm not a highly paid Imagineer with a reserved Tesla parking space waiting for me.

London Park is kind of a nothing scene, so I'd have no problem with them sprucing up that portion of the ride. Of course, they'd probably have to work overtime to keep the ducks off that island if they put anything more interesting there than what's there right now.

To me, the most sacred scenes are Cinderella and Pinocchio. Everything else is quite good, but at risk of unintentionally inviting Imagineering overreach, I'd say those are the only ones that to me would be completely untouchable.

I think you’d have to add Snow White to the sacred list as well.

Well what movies would work with Storybook Land out of Disney and Pixar’s animation roster?

None. We don’t want any new scenes. It’s perfectly fine as is. Nothing on the attraction deserves the boot to make room for Merida and I cant think of anything else that works. Porto Rosso? Nah. I could see them trying to force Moana, Encanto or (to a lesser extent) Wish though. If they have to do that they can take Agrabah.

But really it’s not necessary. Tell WDI to go tinker with Tomorrowland.

One thing I feel no one ever talks about that really needs to be fixed is the wall behind Dumbo, it sticks out like a sore thumb. This was put up when the attraction received a new queue and they took out all the tall shrubbery. The Dumbo advertisement sign doesn’t help either

How do you go from this to this???

Yes I’ve been complaining about this from the day it went up. The climbing roses helped but they need to do better.

I think adding a Casita scene would be a plus, and something modern guests would enjoy. What it would replace, dunno.

It would probably fit better than Agrabah even if not as iconic a franchise or visually interesting. I’d miss “Whole New World” though as you Passing under whatever those things are called.
