Which Restaurant Would You Recommend

Hi,
We will be at WDW this Halloween. We go about the same time every year and just love it. This year we'll be splitting our stay between BW and AKL. We're two adults (sisters), no kids and love to try and sample different Disney restaurants each time we go. So far we've done Boma (loved it), China , Japan, Mexico, Norway, France in Epcot(we loved Mexico but found the rest just okay), the California Grill (Yummy sushi), Rainforest, ESPN, most character meals, and Wolfgang Pucks Express.
I keep reading about how much people love Ohana's and I'm tempted to try it. Can anyone recommend a do-not-miss restaurant for us? - thanks, Nancy

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
The trouble with recommending eateries is that we all have different tastes.
But heres a few I will go back to.

Germany, love the beer and the food, deserts a bit bland though.
Crystal Palace, good food and excellent staff, but beware hyper kids overexcited by Pooh.
House of Blues, my type of music and my type of food. A little pricey for this type of resturaunt but worth it.
I liked the Sci-Fi Drive in, but thats basic burger fayre.
Spoodles, the food was really good, drinks even better. I think this was our most expensive night out.

HATED!!! mama melroses, Itallian so bad that I thought I was back eating UK frozen pub food.

For our next trip were trying,
Ohanas, Brown Derby, Canada, Whispering Canyon, and Tonys TownSquare.

If you love Steak, I would suggest the Yachtsman Steak house at the Y&B Club. Le Cellier in Canada is also a good choice for steak. If you want Seafood, I would highly suggest the Flying Fish at the Boardwalk.

Okay, in no particular order:

50s Prime Time Cafe - great theme and wonderful food
Hollywood Brown Derby - Nostalgia for "Old Hollywood" and the Cobb Salad is a "don't miss" in my book
Fultons Crab House - A bit pricey but worth every penny
Portobello Yacht Club - Fun atmosphere, good food, great sangria

Those are my favorites today. Ask me tomorrow and you might get a completely different list . . . :slurp:

If you are tempted to go to Ohana, definately go! Here is my review from the Review Section of the site...you can find more reviews about the restaurant there.

Reviewer's Comments:
Summary: Why 'Ohana Means Family

I thought that this was the best Dining Experience that I ever had, and not just in WDW. Just entering the restaurant was thrilling. Right away you are introduced to your "cousins" which really makes the place seem so friendly. Your host takes you to get the delicious bread and also allows you to get a good view of the 18-foot wood burning grill.

Our Server who I think was named Ernesto was terrific. He was one of the nicest Cast Members in Disney. We had a birthday in the party and he was with us celebrating the whole time.

The food was incredible (and I think that is an understatement)! The starters which were Shrimp Wontons, Honey Coriander Chicken Wings, Seasoned Vegetables, Salad in a Honey lime dressing, and Oriental Rice with vegetables. After getting filled up on starters your server comes out with the main course. One 4 big skewers your server has Steak, Turkey, Pork Chop, and Shrimp. Each one is seasoned to perfection with Polynesian tastes. The food is also all-you-can eat. For dessert you are treated to Pineapple served with hot caramel sauce. There are also other deserts that you can purchase, but after the pineapple it is almost unnecessary.

The setting at the restaurant is great! You are surrounded by the Polynesian feel with the lit up Cinderlla Castle in the background. If you time it right you can also watch fireworks from the restaurant, where you get the perfect view (and they play the music). There are also games for kids like Coconut Races and Hula hoop contests.

All in all this is a must see restaurant. The setting, service, and food are terrific.

The Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney and by the entrance of DAK is a great choice for a lunch or dinner on the DTD area.
Great food selection as well! :)

WOW!!
You two have racked up an impressive list of eating experiences!!!

Having just returned from WDW myself, I'd have to recommend that you add the following stops to your next trip.....

-----> O'HANA'S at the Polynesian

-----> WHISPERING CANYON at the Wilderness Lodge

-----> THE BIERGARTEN in EPCOT (GERMANY)

Also, if you haven't experienced the HOOP-DEE-SOO Review, you can add that to your list too!

HAVE FUN!!!

Wow!! Thanks for all the recommendations. I can feel my waistband expanding already. The Ohana's review has definitely sold me. The atmosphere sounds awesome. I'm also thinking about Prime Time but I've heard mixed reviews like, great ambience, so -so food. However, I really do think that a lot of the fun of eating at WDW is in the setting. Most of the time it more than makes up for the food. We're really not that fussy. But one more question.......

Where do we get the best martini's at WDW???? We are martini fanatics and love to try all the new flavored ones they seem to invent every week. Mmm......

We are going down for Halloween too! Also no kids, but we are bringing the inlaws! (Yikes! Wish me luck!)

We don't generally eat very adventurously so I'm afraid my recommendations wouldn't be all that terribly helpful. But I can agree with Happy Snapper on Mama Melroses. Went there last year and had horrible service - and even though we were very clear on food allergies and things we couldn't eat - they still brought items out with those foods on/in them - we tried to eat around them but I ended up miserably sick for the entire Fantasmic show and the bus ride back... (The poor family standing in front of us were afraid i would throw up on them! She even asked if we wanted her to stop the bus for us! How embarrassing!!)

anyway - have a great time... see ya in the parks!!!

For resorts, check out 'Ohana's, like many people have stated.

For parks, Tony's is a definite, at least for me - good for adults alone as well as w/ kids, esp. if you love Italian and the feel of the MK. :)

Dinner

O'hana's is a definite...you really can't miss that! Also, Canada is awesome especially if you like steak! Did you ever try the restaurant at the Living Seas? Wonderful food. We go there and O'hanas every trip. Then we add different ones on after that. Coral Reef Restaurant is the name and if you don't want to spend a ton of money there, go for lunch!

Many good spots have already been mentioned, I would make the Brown Derby a must, for food, drinks and atomsphere it can't be beat! Also I loved our meal at Spoodles on our last trip. Everyone should go to Ohanas' at least once but I would also put in a plug for the Kona Cafe. When we stayed at the Polynesian we ate there several times and throughly enjoyed it each time. Asain influenced food that is great, have the macadamia mahi-mahi, it's great or if you like sushi you'll like the tempura ahi tuna served rare! It's a very attractive restaurant and many people swear by the desserts.

Hope you have a great trip, I'm considering a trip around Halloween, it sounds like a great time to go.

That's strange, the food has always tasted absolutely wonderful every time I've been there. Perhaps they were having an off-night when you were there.

Coral Reef is a must for any seafood fan and the atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. It's great if you are doing dinner for two with a special someone. ;)
