Which resort, CBR or WL?

We are beginning to plan the land portion of our land/sea package. We are considering the WL and CBR. We would really want to stay at the WL but are thinking that our 2 DS (8) and (6) would really enjoy the pirate themed rooms. Does anyone have any feedback that can help us choose CBR over WL or visa versa? Thanks.

I've stayed at both and you really can't go wrong. CBR is beautiful but you have to take a bus everywhere. I would prefer WL myself but then, I'm not a small boy. Maybe you could work out the difference in cost and think what you might do with the money you'd save by staying at CBR. The children would probably enjoy the movies on the beach at WL, the boats to MK and the pool area is lovely. It's a hard one to call!

I'm sure the kids will like whatever you pick! :)

I must get over my shock that two boys that age asked for CBR and the Contemporary, lol. Consider yourself very lucky!

You might want to make sure they understand that the pirate themeing is limited to just the interior of the rooms. More specifically, that there are not a bunch of pirtates running around the resort, and lots of shipwrecked boats and whatnot. The resorts themeing in general is merely tropical.

At Wilderness Lodge; however, not only the rooms, but the entire resort, is themed to a Western American National Park Lodge. Of course you would want to state that in verbage they can relate to, but you know what I mean. Nature, Woodsy, Western.

Wilderness Lodge is one of the best "low end" deluxes. They say " Welcome Home _____ Family" whether you're DVC members or not.;) The geyser is cool. The boat launch to MK is great! The beach, the free campfire w/ free marshmallows and a movie is very nice too. We had a bunk bed room and were right across from the main pool as well as our patio facing the quiet pool ( cool jet spas). It's lovely! One of our favorites!:)
CBR is nice too, but the moderates still have outside entrances. Deluxes have indoor corridors.:D
My boys LOVED the main pool complex that has 2 slides and a kids pool play area w/ a "bucket dump". You can see EPCOT fireworks, at least the high ones, from the beach. When you cross over the bridge to the restaurants you greet huge fish, turtles, birds, and Disney ducks! But, the check- in building is separate from the main building and rooms.
It just depends on the theme you like. If you like MK, then WL is for you. CBR of course only has bus transportation and at times can be slow since it has so many "internal" stops as well as Blizzard Beach.
Enjoy your trip! Hope this helps.:D

Never stayed at CBR but we have stayed at WL twice and we LOVE how close it is to MK. The geyser is really cool and the main pool is pretty decent as well. We've contemplated CBR before but the fact the resort is so huge and spread out kind of makes us steer away from it. I suppose a room close to Old Port Royale wouldn't be bad though. I think either way you go, you can't go wrong though since you're at Disney!! :)
