Which place can come closest to capturing the feeling of Disney?

There are certain places that have an attention to detail that makes me think "Disney"

Like Brookfield Zoo in Chicago...

Certain themey restaurants, like the Rainforest Cafe, or the Safehouse in Milwaukee..

Even Las Vegas felt like that at one time (though maybe not so much anymore)

It's where Michigan plays football. It seats 110,000 or so people. Personally, I don't think it's THAT great.

Couldn't agree more! Me and my dad did a double header one Saturday and went to a noon game in Ann arbor and then drove to east Lansing and we were far more impressed with Michigan states stadium. Way better atmosphere, Michigan was so quiet.

Wrigley Field in Chicago. Walking out that tunnel and seeing the flags blowing and the ivy on the walls. Everyone standing in unision and singing with the guest conductor during the 7th inning stretch. The only thing missing is Harry Caray himself.

I'm gonna have to second Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE. Of course, I am a huge husker fan. Hey Scuttle, which stadium are you planning on going to this year? If you want to take the time, where all have you been and your opinions on these places. PM if you want to. But, being a sports fan, I'm gonna say the city of Cooperstown, NY. What a great little town, and I loved the Baseball Hall of Fame. Just my 2 cents.

I don't enjoy carnivals, theme parks, amusement parks....except WDW. Why I love it so much is obvious to any of you who visit here as I'm sure you all share my feelings for WDW so I can't really say any other theme park would do it for me.

However, vacations I have enjoyed as much as WDW would include visiting San Francisco and especially a trip along the coast of Ca, Oregon, Washington and then down the interior of those states. Oregon took my breath away....

Yes when I get home tomorrow I will go through all my ticket stubs and I'll post all the places I've been. I save all the stubs.

We started this tradition in 1999. My dad is a huge FSU fan and I was a Miami fan until we went to Nebraska. I instantly fell in love with the Cornhuskers. There is nothing like it.

The List:

Nebraska
Michigan
Michigan State
Penn State
Wisconsin
Tennessee
Va Tech
Virginia
Wake Forest
LSU
Superdome 1999 National Championship
Navy
Georgia Tech
Maryland
Citrus bowl, been there about 40 times and haven't missed one in 15 years, which is impressive for kickoff being 12pm new years day every year.
FSU
Florida
Orange Bowl
Dolphin Stadium
North Carolina

Not bad for 11 years. My dads wife is from Raleigh so she has connections to the tobaccoo road schools and around that area. My dad and step wife live in D.C. I'm sure you can tell by the locations. My dad has been to a few I haven't been to like the Rose bowl, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. he actually got to go to the 1993 FSU@Notre Dame (game of the century) if you don't know about that game then read about it. I remember watching it on tv when I was 11 or so and to this day it is the best game I have ever seen. The best game me and dad have seen together live would be 2002 FSU@ Miami, wide left. I remember a few years back we looked up how many players from that game ended up getting drafted and it blew our minds.

I guess I'll do 1-5 best stadiums

1. Nebraska, for obvious reasons. There is nothing like it.
2. Wisconsin, my dads favorite great atmosphere great fans great college town
3. Penn State, just an absolute mammoth structure.
4. Virginia Tech, we saw a game at night there and it was nuts. It must be the shape of the stadium that keeps the noise in.
5. Michigan State, great overall stadium and atmosphere plus we saw a great game and saw drew brees come back from 18 down to win 31-30 I believe. Also the Michigan State fans applauded Drew Brees going into the locker room. The only other place I have seen this or heard about this is Nebraska.

Overrated: LSU, FSU, Michigan. I have to give LSU some love because we saw a day game there and skyler green's return for a td was the only td they scored all game, so our experience was a little skewed. FSU even my dad admits isn't that great, neither of us like bowl shaped stadiums. Michigan was horrible, it was one of the most quiet stadiums we have been to. We went to that Michigan State game that night and it was light years better in experience.

Underrated: Georgia Tech, Navy. Bobby Dodd was great it's right in the middle of downtown Atlanta, very different from any of the other college stadiums we have been to. Navy is just a cool little stadium hard to describe why we liked it so much.

Our To-Do List: Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Texas, Clemson, South Carolina, Iowa. We decided we're just going to stay away from the west coast. It's too far and none of the stadiums intrigue us much except Oregon and Washington.

So there you go. It's a great tradition I can't wait to do with my son one day. I save all the ticket stubs and one day when my dad passes on I am going to put all of them in a huge picture frame. I'm very grateful to have a father that is into going to different college stadiums with me every year.

Nothing beats a good college football game in a good college stadium. Nothing

In addition to Disney, I love to travel so places that give me the same (or at least similiar) feeling of immersion? Wildwood NJ (also a touch of nostalgia since we went ever summer when I was younger), Las Vegas (intense theming, etc.) and my week in Switzerland a couple of years ago (being my first out-of-country expirience it was awesome and unreal).

Not QUITE Disney but incredible places nontheless.

I was going to say WDW, but that wouldn't be fair since Disneyland is right there with it. But what place in the world gives you close to the same feeling (or more) that Disney does? Where else can you get a sweeping feeling when you drive under the "Welcome to Walt Disney World" sign? Or the "Magic Kingdom" sign or walking down Main Street?

Is any other place close to that for you? Or is nothing comparable to it? Or could your idea of heaven be the only place to better that feeling?

For me, so far no other place I have seen in the world gives me the same feeling as Disney. There are nostalgic places like camps I visited as a youngster that give me warm feelings but it isn't the same. There is an all inclusive resort in (pick one, Cuba, Dominican, etc.) that give me close to "that" feeling especially while I am on the beach or in the ocean but it still falls short.

Maybe parts of Europe could give me that feeling, I don't know, I have never been. Niagara Falls? Very good feelings but not quite. New York? Its a different feeling and still falls short.

The closest things that give me that feel are Universal Studios (and it still doesn't have that sweeping feeling when you enter the park) and Pigeon Forge. These are the closest in my mind and it still isn't very close to the feeling

Next to WDW, we love Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and specially Smoky Mountains so much!!

Greenfield Village, just a couple of miles from me. I get the same feeling of nostalgia roaming through there as I do on Main Street at MK. Walt Visited there twice in the '40s and was influenced by it.

Yes, the little town of Cooperstown is so charming and unique. Even driving down the street you can feel...............I don't know, call me crazy but Babe Ruth's "ghost". I loved the Hall of Fame too. It is just dripping with nostalgia and just splashes you full of baseball history. Then you leave, walk down the street and everything is themed on the main street around baseball. All the stores are all about Baseball. Then there is Doubleday Park where you can watch a baseball game. Nothing special, usually a bunch of teenagers are playing against another team in a league, but they're pretty good. Over the fence are people's actual houses too, its neat kind of a feeling of coziness. I just loved watching a game in the "home" of baseball, it just felt.......right.

Honorable mention here, while I am a bigger hockey fan than any other sport I can't say that the Hockey hall of Fame "gets" me the same way as Baseball's. But another place with a really good "feel" to it is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. You FEEL the history of music there more than anything. You almost feel the prescence of Elvis, Beatles, etc. Plus you walk outside and you are on Lake Erie and to your right is Browns Stadium and right in front of you is beautiful downtown Cleveland. Just a really nice place to visit. It doesn't replace Disney, but if you are interested in compensating for it then it's a great place

I like to visit a place called Acadia National Park located in Maine as much as I vsit Disney World. Within the area there is also a small town called Bar Harbor that is verry nice to visit and end the day at. The place is full of attractions and everywhere you go is an interesting experience. The landscapes natural and man made are absolutly stunning. Its a great trip for anyone and a good place to plan a family trip. It is a verry unique place and unlike any other. The history of the place and the story of how it all began is also facinating.
