Which park needs more of a refurb, Hollywood or Animal?

Hollywood Studios has 6 attractions (Star Tours, Tower of Terror, MuppetVision, Toy Story, Rock and Roller Coaster)
Animal Kingdom has 7 attractions (Everest, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, Triceratop Spin, Tough to be a bug, Kali, Kilimanjaro)

They both need help, But Animal Kingdom thematically is just fine, It just needs more attractions.
DHS on the otherhand, Expansion is too little for it, It needs a Make-Over, Its a thematic mess, the only 3good areas of the park are sunset blvd, Hollywood Blvd and Streets of America.

They both need help, but in different ways.

I am wildly in love with DHS as it is, even if I see its shortcomings.

DAK, I want to love it, desperately long to love it. But reality is that I respect the park more than that I truly love it. I like DAK the way I like Sea World, the final level of emotional connection is just not there.

So the answer to me must be DAK.

I love the AK now. It could use something else in CMM. I'd vote for The Jungle Book show, but whatever. I wouldn't mind an expansion (non-Avatar) and would love it if it were good...but I don't know if it's needed. Another good ride wouldnt break my heart, but I'm still happy with it (except for the Nemo show) and I've gone there a gazillion times.

I'm not a huge fan of the Studios, but I don't know that it needs expansion so much as just improving. It's such a convoluted park as it is. Expansion might just add to the confusion. I'd rather they fix what is wrong first. More of the same wouldn't help, that's for sure. But some people love the Studios, so maybe I'm just full of it. :)

All four parks are in desperate need of expansion (Yes, even after Fantasyland).

And your use of attractions is incorrect, a ride and an attraction are different things. For example why include Muppetvision, but not Voyage of the Little Mermaid or One Man's Dream? Don't count attractions, view the parks as a whole. And they ALL need expansion.

Expansion and Rehab/Referb are two different things here. I think DAK needs an expansion, but the rest of the park is overall, just fine, while DHS on the other hand needs to re-imagine entire sections of the park and update/change out existing attractions, but an entire park expansion may not be entirely needed as bad.

If you look at each park and how many actual RIDES each it each has...
DAK - 7 - Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, Tri-Spin, Everest, Kali, Safari, & the Wildlife Express Train.
DHS - 6 - GMR, Tower, Coaster, Toy Story, Star Tours, & Backlot Tour.

The last of both lists I barely even consider rides. The rest of the parks are shows and other entertainment, which if fine and fun, but when you compare to the other two parks...

MK - 19 - Railroad, Buzz, Astro, TTA, Space, Speedway, Teacups, Dumbo, Barnstormer, Pooh, Pan, Small World, Mansion, Riverboat, Thunder, Splash, Pirates, Magic Carpets & Jungle Cruise.
Epcot - 10 - Spaceship Earth, Nemo, Soarin', Living with the Land, Imagination, Test Track, Mission: Space, Ellen's, Sum of All Thrills, & Maelstrom.

...both DAK and DHS could use a little help to balance things out.

Now I understand that Disney is more than just rides. In fact, as a CM I hate that there are some tourists that automatically turn their nose up to a "show" because they want "rides", but there needs to be more to do at DAK and DHS, especially after 5:00pm when most shows finish for the day.

For an expansion, I'd love to see South America added to DAK with a coulple of new rides, maybe one with an "Up" tie-in if they must, some awesome new animal exhibits, and lots of great food & cultural entertainment.

For a refurb/redo/rehab, I'd love DHS to replace Voyage of the Little Mermaid with a Princess & the Frog show, enclose Theater of the Stars for the rumored Tangled show, upgrade Fantasmic, change Pizza Planet to a Muppet's themed eatery, change Backlot Express to Star Wars cantina, move/upgrade Jedi Training to Sounds Dangerous theater, change Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playground to Bug's Life playground, and give GMR a huge refurb with 1 or 2 scenes replaced or changed drastically. All of that is just using what you already have to bring in new things to update the park and bring some cohesion to the park. That doesn't include drastically expanding Pixar Place or demolishing LMA/Backlot Tour, etc.

Honestly, if that's all they could give us, I'm fine with that for a while.

Animal Kingdom, for two reasons.

1. DHS is pretty gridlocked. They won't be able to have a major expansion without demolishing something. If we were to get a major Pixar expansion akin to DCA, we can say goodbye to the western and northwestern quarter of the park. Goodbye to the tram tours through Catastrophe Canyon, the costuming department, Captain Duck/Harbor Attack. The vehicles in the Boneyard will all be either repurposed or buried next to the Nautilus subs in the Disney landfill.
Animal Kingdom, on the other hand, has a lot of room for expansion.

2. DHS beats out AK in terms of quality of existing attractions, mostly by continuing to tweak the attractions into becoming a better overall show. (Star Tours: The Adventures Continue with new scenes and quite possibly the best 3D experience you will find anywhere, Tower of Terror being reprogrammed to having random drop sequences)
AK definitely needs some TLC from WDI ASAP.

Agree 100%! DHS is a mess. It needs re-work, in a big way. New layout with added emphasis on thematic cohesiveness, better transition and lose the hat.

Yes DAK has 7 attractions but lets not forget that there are also the animal exhibits.
I voted for DHS because I feel at this point it is kind of caught in a idenyity crisis and is needind some upgrades!

DAK will be in great shape when/if they get Avatarland built with hopefully no massive slashing of the budget. If they come up with a great E-ticket ride, that should allow them to shut down EE for a couple of months and get Yeti fixed up right. DHS is in dire need of an extreme makeover. Pretty much everything outside of the "Sunset Boulevard" area could be leveled and re-imagined (IMHO).

I'd love both parks to get some love, but frankly, I won't bother visiting DAK again until Beastly Kingdomme is finally built. And "Avatarland" (boo, hiss) is no substitute.

Animal Kingdom is a great place, plenty of theming. its need more with in itself right now rather then expanding outward. Lets also not forget its flagship ride EE is unable to operate 100% with its world call animatronic perm down. Its also a very young park compared to the others. I am sure Disney has plans for it well into the future. We today just get discontentent faster with the age we live in.

HS could be right up there with the MK if it got a few more additions. I would love to see GMR get an overhaul keeping alot but also adding a ton. THe back lot could use an overhaul. it used to be a great tour that went on and on. there is still plenty of potential there. and I think the Monsters Inc coaster would be great if it even exist. Add the indiana Jones ride from cali and that place is the place to be!

And the stink part about being monday......gotta get ready for work now.

This is a tough decision for me. Both of these parks are half day parks for me.

My vote is for DHS. Not only does it need a refurb but it also needs more attractions!! I am sure until Avatarland is complete though it won't see much love!!

Both are badly in need of an expansion.

But if I have to pick one, DHS would shade it. But its marginal.

I agree...both seem a little "dated"...

Would have to vote DHS. When I first went to Disney in 1999 it was my second favourite disney park but the lack of any new major atractions (minus Rock n' Rollercoaster) is a bit depressing really... On the other hand animal kingdom has gone from strength to strength and now rivals magic kingdom in my opinion.

DHS needs a new major attraction alongside some more family attractions. Heck even just being larger should help to reduce the horrendous overcrowding. As long as any new area is far away from Sunset Boulevard then its welcome in my eyes!
