Which one of us has actually eaten at Captain Kidd’s?

I have to know some first hand stories about this place, please. Is it as bad as it’s made out to be?

YES, it is AWFUL, I have been in the place a few times, and believe the reviews. I never have eaten a full meal, just some tasting from other folks plate (people I know...)

I have folks telling me they got sick after eating there.

>>Winner, Winner, Don't Eat Dinner: The Worst Restaurant in the Anaheim Resort

The commentary was telling–of the seven comments that weren't me, three mentioned Captain Kidd's. Looking it up on Yelp revealed that at the time of publication, of the 56 reviews, 41 were one-star, 10 were two-star and 5 were three-star. If it's not the lowest-rated restaurant in Orange County, it's got to be in the bottom 10 percent. Clearly it was time to take one for the team and see whether the hype was true.

Captain Kidd's is located directly across the street from the pedestrian entrance to Disneyland on Harbor Blvd. Families who've stayed in one of the hotels on the strip exit the park and are immediately confronted with the sign, and more often than not a guy waving coupons to entice people in.<<

Never really knew anything about this place until reading some recent posts about it on this website. I'm surprised that Disney hasn't tried to get rid of it if it's really that bad. I'm sure it makes a killing with it's location so unless it gets shut down due to safety concerns I don't see it going anywhere. Surely with the influence Disney has they could pay the owners a decent amount of money to move or close.
It's probably shadow owned by Disney.

In our decades of visiting the parks and many years of working in Anaheim, we've always steered clear given all of the bad press. We did eat at the Denny's in that same area and it was pretty abysmal as well.

I've eaten there before. Was it great? No buffet this cheap can be. Was it the worst meal I've ever had, not by a long shot. I knew it was a cheap buffet and you get what you pay for. For every horrible review on tripadvisor, there are positive reviews also.

Ate there once. I try to forget.

Better off at McDonald's.
If I remember correctly, that Mickey D's is higher priced and doesn't honor some of the deals other locations do, like $1 soft drinks. I do remember it was the first (and only) McD's that I saw serve McPizza. Actually bought it once when I worked up the road.

I'd rather overpay McDonald's and know what I'm getting than eat at the questionable Captain Kidd's.

That place is easily the worst place I've eaten.

Stevek, You must be one of the few people who ever tried McPizza. You should get a T-shirt or something to that effect. "Yes, I ate McPizza!"

I also had McPuzza, but in Las Vegas on the strip, next to the old Westward Ho.

One trip with Lisa, I started the trip with a Westward Ho comp (maybe a 2 star), but then used a Wynn comp. Talk about two totally different casinos, and we had show comps to both along with the lodging...

But as for the Mc Pizza, was meh, not bad, but also not great.

It was basically like eating a home made Boboli pizza if I remember correctly. It was probably 20+ years ago?
