Hello everyone,

Planning a trip to WDW June 30th to July 5th - great way to celebrate Forth of July. Since my son and I will be staying for a week, I am looking for a fun hotel with a great pool. I am torn between moderate or value. Thanks for everyone's feedback. Also which dining plan would you recommend?

My daughter is 6 and her favorite value that we have stayed at was All Star Movies. She LOVED the Toy Story section. If she had to pick any value she would probably go with Art of Animation.

As for the dining plan.... if you want to do any character meals I would go with the one sit down, one quick service, one snack per day.

Which value resort has the best pool? Also how is the bus transportation from value to parks?

If you'd like babysitting services, then stay at a deluxe. My preference for young ones would be Beach Club/Yacht Club. The Stormalong Bay pool complex is the best in WDW IMHO. The Cape May Cafe Character Breakfast is nice, and you can use the babysitting service ( for a fee of course) to enjoy a night out at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Enjoy a sundae at Beaches and Cream.:)
In terms of values though, Art of Animation is the newest and the best. Suites can be just as expensive as the deluxes, so be aware unless they come out with summer discounts.
My boys loved POP Century when they were 4! They remember the "Hippie Dippie" pool!:inlove:
All Star Music was nice, but again we stayed in a suite, and those are more expensive.

AoA also has 3 buildings worth of standard rooms. They are a few bucks more than a standard at Pop, but no where near the price of a suite.

I would agree that Art of Animation has the best pool. You can hear music playing under water. How cool is that? :) But as someone mentioned above, there are no pool slides at the value resorts.

Bus transportation from the values is good. I can't say I have had any complaints. The longest I have ever waited for a bus was 20 minutes and that was when we were leaving Hollywood Studios going to Pop Century. There are times (like mid day) that all 3 All Star Resorts will share buses. Some people hate that, I don't mind. I have always found that at park closing each resort has it's own bus.

A five year old would be most impressed and happy with an All-Star. :) Art of Animation might do well, if the kid is a big fan of those movies.

Pop is another Value place, but the nostalgia for the Walkman and floppy discs would be completely lost on a five year old. They can and do appreciate a giant football or Dalmatian, though. :)

Just remember the mermaid rooms at AoA are the farthest from the bus stop so if you have a 5 year old that hates walking distances when he is tired I would do the All Stars that has the Toy Story theming. We did POP and we stayed in the 60's where the hippey dippey pool was, close to the food court and not a bad hike to the bus stop.
We stayed at Caribbean Beach next and even though it was cold the kids took one look at that pool (DGD6, DGS5) and they HAD to swim. I think CBR has pirate themed rooms too.

The pool at CB is great, but be forewarned: The Pirate rooms are the furthest away from Old Port Royale.
