Our first Disney trip was to WDW in 2014. The whole family fell in love with it so we had to follow it up with a trip to Disneyland in 2015 and Fantasyland blew us away! Pretty sure most of the country gets commercials about WDW so we were definitely all about that but after we visited DL and saw what the original park was all about, especially Fantasyland, it immediately became our favorite park. We went back to both resorts with more family members and every time everyone pointed out how DL had such an amazing FL and the one at WDW just paled in comparison.

The Matterhorn felt buttery smooth last night. Ok maybe I’m exaggerating a little but pretty damn smooth for the Matterhorn. Sat row 2, Fantasyland ride. Love riding the Matterhorn at night. If this poll was solely comprised of attractions it would be the obvious choice. Which is why I listed it first I suppose.

But seriously did they adjust something during the refurb? Maybe I just got lucky? The weight distribution on the vehicle I was on + my position + FL side + time of day? I don’t know but we typically ride Matterhorn in the evening and ride on the FL side and I always avoid row 6. So that’s nothing new.

I just love that the proper "Remain seated please, permanacer sentados por favor" is back post refurb. Nice little bit of classic Disneyland back.

Now bring back the old Harold design and howl.

That’s great that we got the old spiel back. Why the heck did they ever get rid of it? I’m actually good with the new AAs but would love for the proper growls for come back.

I just hate that the old snowman is rotting in Mission Breakout.

In the context of Disneyland, it was supposed to be a real living abominable snowman- so having it turned off as a static prop doesn't work. If Disneyland is 'fantasy made real', Disney shouldn't break that illusion on their own. I'd also argue that famous animatronics should be treated with more reverence by the company, and unless they're properly repurposed (like America Sings-Splash Mountain) they shouldn't be reused within the parks at all.

Yeah I agree. I don’t like him over at Mission Breakout. Whatever “value” he’s adding to that attraction and its story isn’t worth the illusion breaking and implication that the yeti isn’t real. On second thought as I write this maybe that isn’t the implication? Isn’t figment trapped in a cage in the queue? Maybe the implication is they captured a live yeti from the Matterhorn and… killed it and got it taxidermied? Not sure I like that either.

There really is no good fit. Maybe if they turned it back on and stuck it in the room with all the other 'live animals' in cages. That's the only way it'd maybe work.

As it stands, it's really just Disney capitalizing on meta references and member berries. A subtle nod here and there is fine, but WDI loves to shoehorn in these 'I know that!' references so park fans can feel smart or something.

They have to store it somewhere or toss it in the trash. Might as well make an interesting decoration in the parks.
