I am planning to go out to Disneyland this August and need to know where to stay. Should I stay at Grand Californian, Disneyland Hotel, or Paradise Pier?
Thanks.

Well all of them are great, but I've only visited one, the Grand Californian, which is AMAZING! If you have the money, I'd say go for GC. The private entrance into DCA is very useful, right next to Soarin' Over California and Grizzly River Run. Then there's a quick walk to the Esplanade, and DTD is right outside your room. Then there's the Storyteller's Cafe... mmm... Try the raspberry lemonade there!

I haven't stayed anywhere except the Grand Californian, so I can't truly judge the others, but the GC is exceptional. Beautiful, comfortable, convenient - we loved it! I became a Haagen Dazs junkie thanks to the store in Downtown Disney right across the path from the GC.

If you have the money then go with the Grand Californian. Otherwise the Disneyland Hotel is great too. I have stayed there and loved it. The pool is fun and the restaurants are great especially Goofy's Kitchen.

I have stayed at Paradise Pier, but would only recommend it if you absolutely want to stay at a Disney hotel, but want to be cheap. It is the lease expensive Disney hotel, but it is a hike to get to the parks.

Is there Disney transportation as we know it in WDW in DL? Thanks for the answers to my other question!

Yes and No.

All of the resort is in walking distance from every resort. I stayed at Paradise Pier, the hotel futherest from the parks. When I was there, I was really close to Grand Calforina's Calforina Adventure Entrance, So it wasn't too bad.

If you are walking through Downtown Disney and want to go, to Disneyland, head for the monerial station there. There only two stops, Disneyland at Tommorrowland Station and Downtown Disney. You must have a park pass or ticket to ride the moneral.

I have only stayed at PPH, which was nice but nothing special. It felt like a slightly Disney-fied Hilton. I haven't been there since the rooms were redone. GC is very nice and overpriced, but if money is no problem, the GC would be the place to stay.

I personally stay in much bigger, and cheaper, rooms on Harbor Blvd that are a 10 minute walk to the park's entrance. There are lots of rooms off property that are closer to the DL gates than the Disney hotels.

Cheers.
