French quarter everytime
Stayed there twice and really like this resort it has everything you want from a Disney hotel as two adults and with the exception of the animal kingdom area it is a pretty good location for getting about the resort as well as not far from the I4 if you want to explore the rest of orlando

The only moderate I've stayed in is POFQ and have stayed there twice because it is always recommended, however in the past it would always be the same price in the UK as the other moderates give or take a few £s but now it can often end up being significantly more expensive. My parents recently stayed in Coronado Springs (which is often cheaper!) and really enjoyed it as well so if its cheaper might be a decent second choice.

Well I've priced up all th moderates and the two port Orleans are about £400 more than the Caribbean beach and the Coronado springs. Plus I've read some REALLY bad reviews this last week of the French quarter which is kinda putting me off a little bit now...

Mainly that the rooms are shabby and not kept well, the buses are over packed and you can't ever get in... A couple had really bad customer service and found really rude obnoxious guests around.... And another said it was just full if screaming kids running riot with parents not bothering or unable to control them. which I get Disney is full of kids, I'm just paying extra to escape the budget hotels for the same reason lol

Port Orleans French Quarter is exceptional for the price. After many years visiting WDW it still remains our favorite. Smaller so it is less walking at the end of the night on your tired feet. Excellent bus service, central location, boats to Disney Springs and the theming is charming. Port Orleans Riverside is nice but French Quarter is much more romantic and better theming.
Since it is a big splurge try doing 1 or 2 nights at a deluxe at the end of your stay as a special treat and grand finale. Animal Kingdom Lodge is amazing. Grand Floridian is over rated with smallish rooms and a weak air conditions system. Undoubtedly very pretty but Animal Kingdom is much more unique and exciting. Have fun!

That depends on when you are going. You'll find unruly children everywhere though. Just do what one of the guidebooks recommends and play a little mental game. Only notice the kids who are being cute. Try to ask for a most recently renovated room in a quiet area. Usually if it isn't too busy they are happy to make you happy.

I have to admit in terms of service I've had nothing but brilliant at any Disney resort I've been to so I was a bit dubious about that bit.

I think we're leaning towards Coronado anyway now as its slightly cheaper which mean we may be able to spring for universal tickets as well (I'm obsessed with Harry Potter almost as much as I am Disney!)

We love Port Orleans Riverside. But only if you stay on the Magnolia side. It has the feel of a deluxe without the location and dining options. But the scenery is beautiful.

I have stayed at CB, POFQ and POR (when it was called Dixie Landings). Our first choice is the Poly but it has gotten so expensive that are new first choice is Caribbean Beach. You get the tropical vibe without at a nice price. Yes it is big, yes there are many bus stops but I still like the Caribbean feel best of all. Second choice would be French Quarter then Riverside. My brother who has been to all four would also choose CB. He was not a fan of Coronado Springs because of the Convention Center. He also didn't like that they charged a service fee at the food court.
