Which moderate resort?

Hi all, seeing as I've been visiting these forums for months and not saying a word I figured it was about time I started speaking. I've been to wdw in 2008 and 2009 staying at the all star music and pop century respectivly. I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with a trip to the world next year for her birthday and I was thinking of going for a moderate this time, we loved the ott theming at the value resorts and the whole disney 'feel' of the place buy were perhaps looking for somewhere not quite so hectic. Does anyone have any recommendations?

thanks for the time

First of all, welcome!

All of the resorts have their pros and cons, and their supporters and detractors. It really depends on what you are looking for in a resort.

I suggest checking out all of the information here on wdwmagic, and also on sites like www.allears.net (check out their Accomodations and Rate & Review sections) for a lot of pictures and user input.

I've stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter. I really like POFQ because of its compact layout, theme, and access to the boat to downtown Disney.

POR is a much more sprawling resort, with a "Mansion" section and a "Bayou" section. The resort is very lush, lots of paths wandering around, and a great themed pool on an island.

For those two resorts, you can also check out www.portorleans.org for more pictures and info.

Whatever you decide on, have a great trip!

I would recommend Coronado Springs highly! I stayed at this resort twice in a row back in 2000 and 2002 and found it to be excellent. You will enjoy newly remodeled rooms and a gorgeous landscape. Also, I would have to say, out of all the resorts I've stayed at, Coronado's foodcourt, Pepper Market has always been my favorite.

The pool is of course well themed and a lot of fun. When the hustle and bustle of the day is too much, pull up a hammock.

Good luck!:sohappy:

P.S. I recommended this resort to friends of mine last year and they absolutely loved it as well. Their chief complaint, which I find is most often the complaint about the moderate resorts collectively is the size. You could be far from the main building making for a long walk or a wait at the bus stop to get to the front of the resort. Again, I think you will run into this problem no matter the moderate resort you choose!

The new rooms at CSR are gorgeous, but the resort is mammoth, and depending on where they put you, you could be doing a lot of walking.

POR is very quiet, but also pretty sprawling.

POFQ is generally most peoples' favorite here, because it's very small, compact, and quiet.

My least favorite resort is CBR, which doesn't remind me of Disney at all. I feel like I'm at a condo community in Boca when I'm there. It's also a mammoth complex.

A Disney surprise is the best. Each resort has a different theme.
This site offer great reviews, photos & trip reports and pick the one that suits you the best.
Watch out, cause you'll love the mods & then start looking at the delx
Have fun planning. I'm sure she'll love it :animwink:

We just got back from CBR a few weeks ago and loved it. It was also our first time staying at a moderate. We picked it because we wanted a beach theme, and that's just what we got. The main pool is new and tons of fun. The food court was great. Loved the steel drum music all around. Lounging in a hammock "on the beach" was very relaxing. I can see some people having complaints if they were placed in the furthest buildings in Trinidad, but we requested a room by the footbridge in Aruba or Jamaica, and it was only a 5 minute walk to everything. I highly recommend it.
