Which mansion to stay in at POR?

DH and I will be staying at POR the 3rd week of September 2004. Are there any differences between any of the 4 mansions? Do they all have the spiral staircases in the front or is each one different? I have a copy of the map that shows where each is located, I am just trying to figure out which one to stay in. We are non-smokers, would probably prefer a quiet pool as opposed to having to be near ol' man island, and don't mind having a little bit of a walk to get where we need to be. We would prefer to be "away from it all" since we are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. I was thinking to pick either Parterre Place or Oak Manor, but was hoping to get some opinions.

Thanks for your help! :)

If you are looking for a great place to stay at Port Orleans, why not stay the newly redone French Quarter. It is my favorite hotel. It is smaller and it you stay at one of the further buildings from the main pool it is very quite. I like river side but it is so BIG. You would still have to walk to Riverside if you want to eat at Boatwrights, but there is a sidewalk taking you there and it isn't a bad walk along the river. The gardens and fountians and the streets to look like the Frnch Quarter in New Orleans is very romantic if that is what you are looking for. I wish I could stay there in May when I go, but the package I have is not being accepted at the French Quarter as of right now. I hope this helps you. :p

We stayed at POFQ for our honeymoon 10 years ago, so we were hoping to stay somewhere different. I personally love the theme of the south with the mansions and all, so we are both looking forward to POR. We both loved POFQ when we stayed there....it was lots of fun getting to and from the pool in 30 degree weather at night!! :p Thank goodness the pools are heated. We had a wonderful corner room that overlooked the river. It was quite romantic! You're right though...the theming of FQ is awesome as well. I loved the walks each day, and the landscaping is beautiful.

Thanks for your ideas!

No problem. I would then say to stay at the Mansion closest to FQ. Terrace??? It is out of the way and I think it has a staircase out front. Just so you know. Riverside does not have any elevators. At least not as of 2001. So you will get a work out every day doing the Disney Stairmaster. I have a very old map of Riverside when it use to be Dixie Landings and I think this Mansion has quite a few rooms that face the river. Plus I just found out the river boat to Downtown Disney only runs from Riverside now for both hotels. I will say though both POR hotles are nice, so you can't go wrong!

Disney Dugger is absolutely correct regarding the rehab thing, but I am still not sure if they are going to do the rehab a little at a time and saeve a major rehab on the Main Building for the end ( or a less crowded time than the summer!) However if given a choice I think I would go for Parterre Place. I believe Oak Manor is the smoking one of the mansions. I liked Parterre Place for location and the quiet pool was awesome. I Also kinda dug the quiet that is Acadian House but you always have to cut thru Ol' Man Island to get to the Main building area. The quiet pool area was nice also, but it was too cold when I was there to be hanging out at the pool!! You will have a great time in any event. Make sure you give Boatwright's a try for breakfast. This is probably my favorite breakfast place anywhere in Disney!!! Banana stuffed French Toast, blueberry pancakes, homefries, YUMMY!!!!!!!! Now I am hungry!! Belle

My fiancee and i stayed in the Acadia house which was right near two bus stops. It was kind of a walk to the main building, but nothing too unbearable. Yes, BOATWRIGHTS has a GREAT breakfast!!!! I could hardly eat all of it (and i can usually finish off my plates) Try the French Toast (or Freedom Toast as I like to call it.......dont get me started...:fork: )

I stayed in Parterre Place in November 2003, it was just right-near the quiet pool and not too far from the main building with the food court and shops. I loved it and would definately go back, have a great trip!
