Been to WDW many times, DL, and DLP. DLP wins for castle beauty. WDW is my home. DL was fun but it just doesn’t give me the same vibe as WDW. Tokyo Disney will happen in probably 2021

If you've been to DisneySea and don't think it's better than Hollywood Studios, Epcot or California Adventure, than there's probably nothing I can say that would change your mind.
No... Tokyo DisneySea was awesome. Better than Hollywood Studios or Epcot and maybe California Adventure. I didn’t ask for you to change my mind. I asked for you to express an opinion because I was curious...

Why is it about "changing" someone's mind?? I pretty much thought that diversity in what people like is a good thing? why does this site have the mantra that if you don't like what I like your wrong?? If you don't like 1980 Disney your wrong, if you don't think Tokyo Disney is better than there is nothing that can be done about your taste??

What the heck, is this 5th grade??? :banghead:

People have the right to like whatever theme park floats their boat. taste is subjective.

Well I was asking her for the sake of having an opposing perspective but here’s why Tokyo Disney didn’t quite do it for me:
1. The language barrier was a little stressful. Yes that should be anticipated. All the attractions are in Japanese. You could still figure out what was going on in most of them though.
2. Everyone champions Tokyo DisneySea as this epic unique park... there was hardly anything I thought to be THAT unique. Okay, a different Tower of Terror. It’s cool. I still like Orlando’s better though. Sinbad was also nice but it’s essentially It’s A Small World with different scenes (again, in Japanese). The only things I thought were really truly unique were Aquatopia and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Even Journey To The Center Of The Earth felt too familiar to Test Track meets Navi River Journey. Don’t get me wrong, Journey is a fun ride and I love it but it didn’t strike me as very unique. And this uniqueness problem was even worse in the castle park
3. The food.. I’m not big on food. And I definitely know this is personal one for me because I know most people love trying new food and probably wouldn’t visit a country in which they had no interest in their cuisine. But I hardly eat anything from American cuisine so I was struggling with finding stuff to eat in Japan. (This is a problem that nobody else will likely face)
4. The hype. It led me to believe I was going to see the best Disney resort on earth and while it is a lovely resort with lovely staff, I didn’t feel like I was at the best resort.

Tokyo Disney DEFINITELY is worth a visit. The staff there is lovely and helpful (they will work through the language barrier with you no matter how long it takes) and potentially the best among the Disney parks. Tokyo DisneySea’s architecture is awesome and for many people, the park really is THAT unique. I just didn’t think it was too different from anything I’d seen in other Disney parks before. As for the castle park... I liked Pooh’s Honey Hunt but Monsters Inc Ride and Go Seek let me down (felt like a step backwards from Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin) and every other ride in the park is a near identical copy of the Disney World or Disneyland version of said ride. The new Beauty and the Beast area would probably improve my opinion so I’m definitely planning a revisit at some point.

And if anyone who’s been to Tokyo Disney disagrees with me, I encourage you to share your opinion and experience.

Yes
I’m not inclined to as it’s well earned reputation precedes it. Not much more I can add. Besides when you say that an attraction with sophisticated animatronics and sets on the same scale as Main Street is a step backwards from Buzz Lightyear, well, what I’m I supposed to say? Your opinion is what it is.

It’s sounds like you’ve only been once, so that’s all you can base your opinion on. I get that. My views come from multiple visits to both Tokyo parks and the other parks, so I’ve seen how much better they take care of the parks in Japan compared to the rest. They just have a higher standard that they set for themselves. The Disney mantra that anything non functional is bad show and unacceptable is still alive and well in Japan - that to me is probably #1 on my long list of things I love best about Tokyo Disney Resort.

When did “magic kingdoms” become “castle parks”?

Oh I definitely agree that Tokyo Disney is well taken care of. But I feel it lacks anything very unique. The animatronics in Monsters Inc Ride and Go Seek are not very sophisticated in my opinion. Are they even A100 figures? And with everyone constantly shining lights on a helmet I hardly got to see any of the effects. There was no score being kept. I just didn't see what was so great about it. Nobody in my party did either.
And I referred to it as the 'castle park' because when I say Magic Kingdom, I default to Orlando.

Tokyo Disneyland Resort just isn't any more special to me than California or Orlando or Paris. It's unique ENOUGH but not wholly unique like many people make it out to be. It might be the least unique of any in my opinion. (Yea yea only resort with Disney Sea is the least unique...)

WDW and then just once Disneyland. Especially if you are living in North America you have to make it your mission to visit the original Disneyland. If you are going to Florida you can probably go to California. I went there thinking that the magic and aura won't be able to replace WDW's but it does, and then some. No, it isn't as grand and there is that feeling of seclusion in WDW but Disneyland does a marvelous job of cornering you into their world and I have always felt as if Disneyland embraces their history a bit more.

Disneyland California is the best resort in my opinion.
