Wow, that's a lot of buffets. As we don't do character meals or buffets, the only one of those places I've been to for breakfast is the Kona Café. I would take a look at the menus and cut out the ones that look to have the most generic offerings. I don't think there's a whole lot of difference, food-wise, between 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's, Cape May, tusker House and Crystal Palace, for instance.

Lots of Character meals there! :) You guys must be big breakfast people we tend to only do 2 big breakfasts on our trips as we like to spend the early mornings in the park. I have eaten breakfast at all but Kona, Crystal Palace and Akerhus. I would probably skip Cape May, it was good but you'll see some of the same characters at Chef Mickey and Tusker and they had better meals. And I would cut out 1900 or Akerhus, depends on if you want princesses or poppins. You might want to decide which characters you really want to see and go from there. That is why we haven't eaten at the Crystal Palace because I have no interest in seeing Winnie the Pooh, I rather see Mickey at my character meal. But by all means DO NOT skip Boma, it is really good especially the caramel rolls!

Trails End would be the first I'd cut- the menu doesn't seem overly special to me. As for 2nd to cut, I'm torn between 'Ohana, Tusker, Akershus, and Cape May. Here's why...

'Ohana- we've done this once for breakfast and while we had wonderful service and great character interaction, the food was just not good. We had a couple of rounds of raw sausage and a couple of rounds of overcooked potatoes and waffles. On the flip side, the service was great and the characters were wonderful.
Tusker- We seem to be in the small group of people who had a bad experience here...food/service/character issues. Still, I'd be willing to give it a 2nd chance at some point since it has some more unique offerings.
Cape May- It bugs me that it only has 3 characters. The food was great and the service was good, but it just feels like you should pay less for 3 characters.
Akershus- I prefer lunch and dinner here, but the redeeming factor is the cold buffet. Still it didn't have as many offerings on it as I recall at lunch and dinner...so unless this princess meal is a must, I feel like it's OK to skip for breakfast.

Unless you really, really are breakfast people and that's YOUR meal, I'd cut a few of them and make rope drop at the parks too...maybe keep half of them.
Keep: 1900 Park Fare Supercalifragilistic; BOMA; and Kona

Think about one of these: Chef Mickey's; Beach Club @ Cape May; or Donald Duck @ Tusker House

If your children or you are Lilo and Stitch fans, then O'hana's might be a must do...otherwise let it go. If you're keeping it, then get rid of one of the 'keeps'...probably Kona

Reasons to keep Crystal Palace and/or Akerhus...get the first seating of the morning (8 am or thereabouts) on a day the park doesn't open until 9 am.

Definitely get rid of Trails End.

Just wondering those of you that have stated get rid of trails end have any of you had a meal there? I have always heard nothing but good things in the passed.
We've eaten there. It was okay, but not as noteworthy as the other restaurants listed. It's a basic breakfast buffet...limited...and nothing that stands out.

I have had eaten dinner at Trail's End twice and enjoyed it immensely, but I still think getting to and around Fort Wilderness can be a pain unless you are staying there.

This may be a dumb question, but in general are the selection and quality of the food at the breakfast buffets much different from what's available at the resort food courts for breakfast? It's not a big deal to me as we are not breakfast people and an a la carte breakfast is fine for us (a muffin or some fruit and a coffee will do me), just wondering. We have just one breakfast booked, at Kona - need to try Tonga Toast, prolly had it in 2000 but don't remember!

The quality is probably around the same as a food court at a resort but you will get more variety at a buffet. The big thing at Kona for breakfast is the Tonga toast which you can get at the QS, Captain Cook's, at the Poly too. You just don't get the fruit topping at the QS location.

I would skip 1900 and trails end. The food was just ok at 1900. The characters didn't seem to want to spend any time with you.
I would say that Boma and Crystal Palace are my favorite breakfasts from your list.

Trails end seems to be the easiest to ditch. We'd also axe akerhaus. Next would be to consider whether kids NEED to see Alice characters. If not, lose 1900. We always enjoy Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's. Poly and AK also good. We miss the old carousel breakfast served family style in EPCOT in The Land building, not a buffet, but still worth noting.

Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
1900 Park Fare Supercalifragilistic
Chef Mickey
BOMA Kona and Boma would be my picks to stay on the top of the list
Kona They have the most unique food offerings, the rest are pretty standard.
Beach club Breakfast Cape May The dinner is better
Crystal Palace
Donald ducks Tucker house
Ohana
Princess storybook AKERSHUS Meh food, unless it is necessary to briefly see the Princesses
Trails End I love how different this is over any other breakfast, unique.

The other 5 are pretty much the same to me, same food. As an adult I love the Wave breakfasts. Clever dishes.

I would drop Trails End...and maybe Boma or 'Ohana? I like Boma for dinner. :)
Chef Mickey is classic.
Kona - Tonga Toast - need I say more? :)
Cape May - one of the best, if not the best character interaction on the property - Goofy sat with us at our table and Minnie danced with us around the buffet.
O'hana - one of the worst overall character and meal experiences ever on property. We were forgotten about - more then once. For food, coffee, and characters.
Akerhaus - cheesy potatoes are SO yummy!
Tusker House - its a nice one to do one. If you make the first lunch ADR, you get an over flow from left overs from breakfast and the new offerings for lunch.
1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace are similar food wise but are 2 other classics in my opinion and I love them!
Boma - I like better for dinner
