Wheres the rest of the pics, Im interested to see. Also any word on contract talks? I'm always hoping for some time of job in Orlando but not with RCES if they are really not supportive of the crews.

You haven't been reading the treads! The contract was settled after over two years of negotiations and the union got almost everything they asked for including benefits for retirees. We currently have job postings for Firefighter/EMT (Paramedic preferred) and for MARC Paramedic (Medical Assistance Response Cart). Go to the RCID web site for more info. Stop by the Administration Building on Hotel Plaza Boulevard for applications.

It is a rookie! Don't you like Lime Green??

Hey someone replaced the cardboard driver with a 3d dummy. :p

Who picked the lime color scheme for the reedy creek vehicles?

That's no 3D dummy, not even an audioanimatronic figure! That is a state certified Firefighter/ EMT / Fire Safety Inspector! At least he wears a seat belt when the vehicle is in motion!!

The Lime Green color is supposed to give extra visibility, although I think all the flashing lights are pretty visible too!

RCFD did have a red truck for a long time. Disney asked Reedy Creek to have a truck painted red so they would not have to ask Orange County or Orlando to come out with a truck when they needed a traditional colored truck for filming. One time, the reserve engine was in service and that was the red truck. It responded to Team Disney and the Disney big wigs thought Orange County was responding to the call! The Reserve Engine was in really great shape, but was replaced eariler than an older and more worn engine. Wonder why? Hmmmmm.

No one really likes the Lime Green trucks, but they usually get us where we need to go!

Fire Engines should be red and rescue trucks should be called RESCUE trucks not ambulances. At RCFD they are not. Welcome to the strange world of RCFD!
:fork: :goodnevil

Bye the way.....we have a new Engine coming any day now. It is in Ocala at E-One and should be ready soon. A new squad (heavy rescue) truck is in the works and should be bigger and hopefully better than Squad One.

Here is mine:

I made the site and I am in the middle of reconstructing it.
Our sister station has slime lime trucks, and they have never heard the end of it. I am very excited about seeing this display.

Getting a job at RCFD

OK.....I keep getting PMs from folks looking to work here! Go to:

http://www.rcid.org/Job_posting.cfm
There is information on job openings and how to get the qualifcations you need for those positions.

For jobs in other parts of the state try: www.reedycreek.org

Also see this State of Florida site for EMS qualifications:

http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/ems/ems_home.html

To become a Florida Certified Firefighter or Fire Safety Inspector try this site:

http://www.fldfs.com/sfm/bfst/fsfc/StdsCncl/StdsTraCncl.htm

From there select "I want to become a Florida Firefighter or Fire Safety Inspector"

Good luck!

By the way....if you really like fighting fires, you may want to look somewhere else. RCFD prevents fires and that works so well, they rarely have to fight them. :snore:

Quick update:

They are replacing some of the doors with plexiglass panels to allow guests to see into the compartments. You will be able to see where the ladders are stored and where the extra air bottles are kept for example. The rear compartment reveals that there is NO WATER TANK on the truck! The rear section is all poly! Very cool. All the hose beds are now filled with brand new hose, red, white and blue!

They are also modifying the front of the truck to prevent small fingers and trash from being placed into the front end. It is looking better every day. They are now considering re-doing the photo of the driver so he has a seat belt. That would be nice.

After reading your sig I have a question. Is it true that lots of guests get strange rashes from sitting on the concrete at WDW?

Are they gonna assign any RCFD personel to the exhibit to answer questions?

First question: No

Second question: Doubtful. Hey...they didn't even invite us to the opening of our new fire station! In fact, we were ordered to stay away. Two off duty guys were stopped by the OCSO and ordered to leave! They were just driving past the building on their way home!

Fire Engine Update

The Liberty Flyer (Engine 1) was moved on October 1st at about 0030 from RCFD Station 4 to EPCOT.

Before it left, Disney crews had added display cases with grid work on the right side of the truck over the equipment compartments.

The driver is still not wearing a seat belt, although we did point that out to them! :brick:

We understand that they weren't quite sure if it would fit in the building, and they may have to either deflate the tires or remove them to lower the truck.

The truck has three "I" beams under it so it will not be resting on its own suspension for the next tree years. One beam is under the front end, one in the middle and one under the rear.

No invitation has been received for RCFD to attend the opening. I wouldn't hold my breath!

Bye bye plastic fire truck!!

Happy FIRE PREVENTION WEEK! Be safe and Learn not to burn!
