"Where's the Fire?" New exhibit to open October 2004 at EPCOT

The NEW FIRE ENGINE IS HERE!! The new fire engine for EPCOT's new exibit on fire safety arrived today and is being stored at Reedy Creek's Fire Station 4. It is RED and has a driver and firefighter in the windows on the left side of the engine. The engine is fully equiped with all the normal equipment that a fire engine should have on board. The exhibit is to open next month during fire prevention week.

From web site: http://www.libertymutual.com/omapps...gename=PMInternet/Document/ShowDoc&c=Document

Cool. That's a new one on me too. Hadn't heard anything about it. Maybe we'll get to see it in December.

Thanks for the info!

How long will the exhibit be there for, does anyone know?

It should be a semi-permanent display – meaning as long as Liberty Mutual is willing to pay for it.

I can’t tell you too much about the exhibit (mainly because I don’t know much) but in addition to the fire truck there will be a fire safety presentation with a game show format. When I went through my initial Innoventions training I saw a few of the presenters rehearsing. They’ve got the whole cheesy game show host thing down pretty well. (I hope that’s what they were going for.)

Also, when they move the truck in, the intention is to knock out a wall in Innoventions West, put the truck in place, and then rebuild the wall all in one night.

New member, longtime reader here. I work for PolyBilt, the company that designed and built the body of the truck (Behind the cab to the back bumper) and it is made of Polyproprene, a polymer material. The overall apparatus was assembled by the WS Darley Company, out of Melrose Park, IL. The Chassis is built by Spartan. The lockers are loaded with all of the firefighting equipment you would need on a normal big city truck (and then some). The driver and passenger graphics are of Bill Darley, CEO and Driver and Peter Darley, COO and passenger.

Its interesting that they can get new apparatus to park in innoventions but they cant get new/additional apparatus to actually serve RCID. Looks like a nice rig, I haven't had any experience with Polybilt trucks. The truck is missing some very important equipment in that it seems to lack SCBA's (self contained breathing apparatus) it just has empty racks where they should go.

It is good that they are having this exihibit. Did you know that the United States is one of the least fire conscious first world countries. Did you know that fire took the lives of more Americans in the States during the Vietnam war than combat did overseas. In China you get five years in prison for careless smoking.

SCBA's and turnout gear are in the cab for transport. Hose is liad out on top of the truck on the hosebeds. The suction lines are above the compartments. I'll upload some interior and rear shots later.

Hmmm, might have to make some calls to Reedy Creek about buying some bodies or apparatus from us. ;)

OK....I was going to post photos, but yours are better! I did notice that the DRIVER (Bill Darley) is NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT! Poor safety message there! The new seat belts are RED and must be RED or ORANGE to meet the NFPA codes. This ensures that the crew can look to make sure everyone is buckled in and safe. Great idea, but someone missed this when the photo was taken. :sohappy: HELLO!

Maybe a nice photo of it in the fire station might be nice.

If anyone has one, I'd love to get ahold of it, I won't be down until the exhibit is done. I'll set a page up later with some more of the pictures of when it stopped at our plant here in Ocala yeaterday.

It is nice to see renewed investment in Innoventions....between this, Tom Morrows Playground, and Fantastic Plastics, Innoventions is starting to come around again.

pwaaaaahhaaaa. We still have open cabs, in the back! We we start buying new trucks to go into the new station we are building, we will be up to NFPA standards. Our current trucks were grandfathered in. The only time I don't like the open cabs is when it has been raining all day. Water collects in the hose beds, the driver slams on the breaks, you get a lap full of water.
FINALLY!!! A REASON TO GET MY HUBBY TO DISNEY!!!!! :sohappy:

YAA!! :sohappy: I will be at Disney from Ocy.1-3rd. I was planning to go to Epcot and this just gives me a better reason to. I'll take photos of the exibit if I can. :D
