I may actually be living in fantasyland but it seems odd to me that when the park was developed that Sleeping Beauty was left out of fantasyland...both Cinderella and Snow White are represented. It's also interesting that in all the years that WDW has been around that there are only 2 dark rides centering around the disney cartoons . The best attractions in fantasyland are Snow White and Peter Pan...(although I liked snow whites adventures when they were still scary lol) BUT... for me fantasyland could use more of these "dark rides" Sleeping Beauty would be at the top of my list but there should also be a showcase for the more modern stories like beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid....these have been around forever now and thier prescence in the MK is pretty limited...I always thought the space where 20K leauges was could be something geared towards Little Mermaid (other than Ariel's Grotto....) or even better yet for Finding Nemo

any thoughts????

LOL! For a moment I thought you were Lisa, (Wckd Queen I think) and was wondering why she signed "mike, nyc". I was going to reply to saying that she was asleep when the parks were developed, but then noticed this is your first post and you may get offended by my joke, so I will just say "interesting... I have no idea, but a ride about her would have been cool".

Welcome to wdwmagic, Mike!

Wicked Queen----

I do not think that anything like Finding Nemo is going in 20K's area considering it's going to be a flat grassy area now. Didn't you hear? The lagoon is being completely removed. In fact it's pretty much gone. Check www.giveneyestosee.com/20k for the latest. It's maintanied by a user here named MissM.

As for Sleeping Beauty...that's a good question. I think Ariel needs something other then a dinky grotto too.

I have also wondered why Sleeping Beauty has never has a dark ride for her.
I also agree that Little mermaid and Beauty and the Beast should be better represented aswell! :D  A few more Disney cartoons i would love to see represented with a ride is Lady and the Tramp and The Aristicats! :D

I saw Sleeping Beauty aka Princess Aurora earlier this week, on my way into Epcot via the International Gateway. I should have asked her! :animwink:

Just guessing here, but it might have to do with Sleeping Beauty being released in 1959. To us, it's a classic, but Disneyland had been open for four years. Plans were probably already on the drawing board, and nobody thought of it as being a "classic."

Like I said, just a guess.

That may be true! But they have had ...what 35 or more years to rectify that? LOL!

Is this a competition? Now I want to know who has made out with her! LOL ;)

My best friend lives WITH Princess Aurora (or rather she lives with him) and they have dated. So I think he wins that prize Maria! Travis knows who I'm talking about.

I've heard that a Sleeping Beauty dark ride was originally supposed to go into Fantasyland. The fantasyland dark rides at Walt Disney World were to be completely different from those found in Disneyland. I dont remember the others, but I know Mary Poppins was supposed to be one of the others.

And we dont see much of Aurora around WDW because her castle is over in CA, remember?? :D

Isn't that what I said? Aren't Sleeping Beauty and Aurora the same person?! :veryconfu I saw pictures of the castle a few weeks ago. I would have been mad if I went to Disneyland and saw THAT at the end of Main Street, which was also covered in tarp!

You were right the first time. It is indeed Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland.

Sleeping Beauty is represented at Disneyland. Belle is represented at Paris.

Ariel, Pocohontas, Mulan: none have good representation.

So, there are some areas for improvement. Right?

Yup, you are correct. I checked with my wife who is the resident (well at my residence anyway) Sleeping Beauty expert, and it is at DL. Why I thought it was Snow White's I do not know. :hammer:

Yes, it is interesting that you find Princess Aurora left out alot. You will even find her left out of some of the Princess compilations, or taking second stage to Mulan or Little Mermaid. We got our daughter a Princess Calander for 2005 and all the princesses represented had two months and only one month for Sleeping Beauty.

I find this strangly odd and maybe worthy of a conspiracy theory...
