where to stay

Can anyone help me with a resort to stay in, I'm torn between the Floridian and Port of Orleans Riverside. NO kids involved just myself (32) and my boyfriend (42). Thinking of going Thanksgiving weekend into the following week. Or possibly the week after Thanksgiving as it may be less crowded then, kids will be back in school and also I guess the prices go down after Thanksgiving.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The Grand Floridian is nice but super expensive. My husband and I both love Port Orleans Riverside. Lots to do there, and the grounds are soooo beautiful. Nice for romantic walks. We like the mansion side (Magnolia Bend).

Is this for your honeymoon - I think I remember you posting about a Disney Wedding (?) :)

These are my two favorite resorts. My last trip I stayed at both. If you have time you might want to dry that. Just look at the cost. If that's not a problem I would go with Grand Floridian because the pool is always open, I thing the rooms are bigger, you'll probably get a balcony, and you can watch the fireworks from your room.

Have fun!

Love POR. Not a big fan of the GF. A little to stuffy and over priced for me. If you want to stay deluxe and want something romantic, the Poly is perfect.

Try Old Key West, they are now advertising when they have openings. It's gorgeous, has the best bus stops at each park, and you can pick from a normal hotel room or a one-bedroom villa. Rather than paying to stay at the Grand Floridian, I'd recommend paying to stay there.

GF - nice decor; pricey; great dining; boating available; carriage rides available; beautiful gift shop & lobby; nice pools; close to the MK; monorail access
POR - quiet; scenic; moderately priced; good dining; boating available; carriage rides available; nice gift shop; great pools; can take boat from resort directly to DTD; great service (we stayed here during the summer of 2006)

I love both resorts. But, after doing the pricing, I perfer POR! We are able to go tho Disney twice in a year as compared to just going once if we stay at GF. If money is no object, the GF is beautiful and worth every penny if you have it. With that said POR is just as picturesque, with great dining, romantic carriage rides. IMHO you get more bang for your buck! During the period you want to go they with be having campfires at the "Ole Fishing Hole" at 6pm.

But, call soon....the clock is ticking!:D

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. This is a great site, you all know so much about Disney!
We decided on the POR 11/26-12/2.The Floridian was way too expensive, really how much time do you spend in your room, I'm one of those that is up and out early and don't come home until the parks close.
Thanks again!

Cool!! I was going to tell you to go with POR, being that GF is very expensive. We will be staying at POR for the first time in 2 weeks and I can't wait to see this resort. I've seen so many pics, and they are all beautiful. The reviews from everyone were so great.
Have fun!
