Where to start

I am planning a 2nd trip to WDW this summer. The first year we went a friend basically gave me a daily itinerary of what to do, that friend is now lost in the internet world (you know those friends you make in forums and then loose track of???)! I don't know where to start and want this to be a great experience for my girls!

So, I assume flying in on the 5th, arrival and check in to hotel before noon, flying out on the 14th, after 5p?

(that's what "early" and "late" mean to me, but I generally fly to Orlando from ATL or DC, so no more than an hour / hour and a half trip for me)

What does your "fun money" budget look like? I don't need exact numbers, just curious how interested you all would be in unique things that may have a slight upcharge. $500? $1000?

I should clarify...when I budget for a trip, I separate out the trip costs with the "fun money" costs. Shows (like La Nouba) and gift shopping come out of "Fun Money", the rest is a set cost that is the base trip.

Ok, getting some ideas...few mins and I'll give you a sample itinerary as I (note myself, who goes with one daughter every trip) would do it.

While I work on this, unless someone else chimes in, feel free to catch up on the trip I'm planning in August (I'll wave at you as you are leaving, as I'm coming in right towards the end!)

Oh, two last and very odd questions...

Two 8 year olds.

How tall are they? How much do they weigh? Do they have any allergy, dietary or mobility concerns?

Roundabout numbers work fine, it has to do with some of the extra stuff I'm thinking about.

Gone to dad's for the weekend but according to the yearly markings on the growth chart they are probably about 4'6" & 4'2" each weighing about 45-50lbs. Tall skinny girls. Seasonal allergies. No mobility issues, very active in sports. Smallest twin is a ride sissy! I am hoping to convince her to ride more rides this time. We went when they were 6 and she refused to ride Tower of Terror or Space Mountain!

Day 1 - Fly in, check into CBR.

Hang out at the pool. Bus hop over to Wilderness Lodge, then Ft. Wilderness. Take the kiddos on a Pony Ride.



Go to Mickeys BBQ for dinner (or keep your Whispering Canyon, as it's a quick bus back to Wilderness Lodge).



Day 2 - Magic Kingdom

QS credit for Be Our Guest.



Do the base package of BBB before dinner.

Dinner at Cindy's Royal Table. Yes, this will eat up one of your Table Service credits, but with two 8 year olds, it's well worth it for a one time experience. It's pretty easy to swap out a meal later (I'll get into that on the last day) with an affordable "family snack" meal or you can use snack credits for a small lunch.



Day 3 - Epcot

Lunch at Garden Grill. Coral Reef is fun, but not nearly what it used to be. Feel free to swap both or either out. Garden Grill is a TS restaurant, rotates and has characters.



Dinner someplace at EPCOT World Showcase (for two 8 year olds, I'd suggest the Fish and Chips spot in UK).



Day 4 - Hollywood Studios

Lunch at Scifi Dine In. You three can easily fit into a single car, based on your descriptions, and they'll enjoy it. This is a TS credit.



Dinner at wherever, but I recommend the ABC Commissary.

Day 5 - Animal Kingdom

Breakfast at Tusker House before rope drop (official park opening). This is a TS credit.



This will allow you to hit the Safari right afterwards. The animals are more active in the morning hours, and you'll beat most of the lines (and not need to use a fastpass+ for it).

Lunch at Restaurantosaurus.



Dinner OOP (out of pocket), probably at the resort, is what I'd recommend. Spend the evening chilling at the hotel pool, etc.

Day 6 - Day Off

Go to a water park or DisneyQuest. This will save your ticket for the last day (upcoming).

Day 7 - Free Choice

Plan as you see fit.

Day 8 - Free Choice

Plan as you see fit.

Day 9 - Magic Kingdom / Fly Out

Check your bags at the resort (or just check them in with Bell Services) and check out.

Breakfast at Crystal Palace before Rope Drop.



For "lunch" do two meals. One a sweet and savoury one at Sleepy Hallow around 11a, then around 2:30 p go snag a spot in Frontierland and pick up two Turkey Legs and some drinks and chips.

Then watch the 3p parade before heading back to CBR to catch DME back to MCO.

May need to scratch the pony ride due to that. I don't recall the weight/height limit right now, but my kiddo was too tall and heavy last time, and too young for the full size horse ride.

I've done a few of these trips.

Others may chime in, and there is no "wrong" way to do it. It's what is right for you and the family.

With 2 kids and 1 adult, that does limit a few things (for example, I would recommend renting one of the sea racers at DTD), but that's out of the question.

The first day Pony rides, I don't think will work. I'd have to check my 2013 trip report, but my kiddo was 8 then, and she was so excited to do the Pony rides, only to find out she was too heavy and too tall for them (something even after repeated calls to Disney, they never told me in advance).

So, while that idea seems neat, I think I'd scrap it.

However, if you like the Ft. Wilderness thing, they also do Archery lessons there as well as fishing off the dock (which is VERY cheap) and they seasonally offer carriage rides.

Yes, you do. And make them as soon as you can. It books up fast.

My kiddo has only done it once, when she was 6. They have a few different level of packages.

There are a few philosophies to this. I paid for the full package (not cheap, but it includes a lot of goodies, including a full costume and makeover). Many families will provide their own costumes (like, ones they got online or from walmart or target). Nothing wrong with that approach either.

The "pamper makeover" experience though, is fantastic.
