Yes she is no longer at Epcot - I want to say she retired or her contract was not renewed. Similiar to a lot of the other entertainment offerings at Epcot

I believe that it was announced that her contract was not continued after last year :(

Very sad. Another victim of the cheapening of WDW thanks of Bob Eiger and his leadership team.

According to Miyuki herself, she left to pursue other ventures. She had been there for over 17 years and wanted to look into other avenues for her talents. Different published discussions with her included the possibility of opening a shop in New York or returning home to Japan.

Rumor has it, they offered her a significant raise, but I have yet to find any confirmation of that.

Regardless, I don't think this is one to blame on Disney leadership (they have more than enough other things to be blamed for).

I actually did some searching and it appears that she is currently in New York. Found a couple of references to her there, but couldn't find if she was doing public appearances or not - though she definitely did a private party at Mija Shoji on 18th street just a week ago. Here is a blog about said party:

I sure hope she is doing well. She is a very talented and sweet person and we never missed her performances while we were in the World. I must have a hundred pics of her making candy for my daughter and I sure do miss watching her scissors fly over whatever creation she was making. Maybe I'm crazy but I even miss her telling DD, "rice candy pink penguin for youuuuuuuu"!

I though she had to stop giving the candy to the kids a while back, because of health code reasons. I guess that is moot as she is no longer there.

Along the same lines, what happend to Jutta the "Egg lady" in Germany who made the hand painted eggs. For a number of years her work table was there but I never saw her. Now, if I recall correctly, last year her work area has been changed into a display of some sort.
