August is the biggest vacation month
This one surprises me. Based upon the numbers we bring in annually, I would've guessed July by a long shot, at least as far as the summer months go. Yet even back in the days of taking hosp.mgmt courses in college, they always taught us it was August which was the biggest travel month of the season. I've just never seen that reality pan out here. We have one more great week / weekend ahead of us, then there is gonna be a dip in guest levels until we hit convention season in early Sep. Even down at WDW & other destinations it slows a bit toward the middle of this month by comparison to July's turnout.

Edit: And I'm a moron too. Just noticed he said biggest "vacation" month, not travel month. Carry on, citizens. Ignore this idiot.

Where I live, August is the big month for "real" vacations. In June and July people may go to the beach or somewhere just for the weekend, but taking off work for family vacations of a week or two is definitely more an August thing.

Nah, you're not a moron, nor an idiot. Takes a lot more than that to advance one's status to those levels! ;) (I'm working my way up to imbecile. :p )

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
As a general rule, I don't like to shop on Sundays. I'm not maniacal about it, but if I can, I do it on other days, which would be why I didn't go to the grocery store yesterday. (Plus the no-pants thing.)

It's a long weekend here, but not a stat. It's a drop dead gorgeous day, and a perfect day for barbecuing. Tonight, we will be having pork chops (and applesauce), mini roasted potatoes, and salad made from scratch - not the bagged carp that I usually make. Oh baby, I love pork chops (and applesauce).
