It got really stuffy and humid in here overnight, so I just got up to shut all the windows and turn the A/C on.
I was going to have to do it sooner or later anyway, but it was nice to have fresh air and cool nighttime temps for the past few days.

Pokemon is not my thing, either. However, I think your explanation is missing a key component to the Pokeman craze.

For many people (of all ages), it's just light-hearted, escapist fun. Provided people aren't on their phones 24 hours a day doing it, (and also not doing it in potentially dangerous situations--such as not looking out for traffic while crossing a busy intersection, etc.), I don't see a problem with it.

We're living in an incredibly messed up, violent world these days, and I think we all need a reprieve to balance out what little sanity we have left in our lives. Pokemon may not be for you or me for our mental health break, but I'm glad that others enjoy it (within reason).

I agree. It's the within reason part that bothers me a little. But, and I know this will come as a shock to many, I don't have all the answers, but, it just seems to me that it is one other way to pull away from humanity or any effort to fix this stressful planet by chasing a little yellow cartoon. But, to each his own. I will say that until I get rear-ended by some idiot playing the game while driving, because that is more then possible.

Igloos aren't real. They are an invention of National Geographic to lull you into thinking there's nothing up here worth bothering. We don't like to share our beer or poutine.

While 97 is high, we've been in the lower-90's a lot this summer. My air has been on way more than it's been off.

We call it a hydro bill.

And yes, mine has probably doubled as well. We've had a lot of high-80's and low-90's temps this month.

I've got an old energy-hogging KeepRite green box. Those things last forever (just ask my dad, his hands were probably all over this one during the manufacturing process), but at almost 40 years old, it is hardly energy efficient. Hubby is reluctant to get rid of it while it is still working just fine. He says even if a new one saves $100/month (which it won't) for 3 months a year, it would take ten years to recoup the cost of a new one.

It actually encourages interaction when you go out and play it. The one time I tried it I encountered about 30 other people playing and everyone was pretty much helping each other and giving them advice on where to go. It's a treasure hunt.

I've told a number of people "where to go" in my life without the benefit of an electronic game.

You're not that far off from me!!! When it got into the high 90s during the summers in Canada when I was a kid...I got mad. That was not the reason I left the summers of Texas for! 80's are nice...mid to high 90's...booo

We actually went out for some nice walks in the neighborhood over the past week so my daughter could hatch her eggs. We had some pleasant conversation and got some exercise as well. Win/win/win.

I had lobster last night.



Oh my gosh, this was so good. My entree was also very good, but two of these would have been better.




Bacon wrapped chicken, with garlic mashed, and some kind of slaw. Ski devoured my leftovers within seconds of my getting home.

(The pesto sauce was an odd garnish side.)

No, you can't see it in that picture, but there was a belt wrapped around the fan shaft that was attached to a hamster wheel. On a hot day we would easily go through over 100 hamsters. But, on the plus side... they cooked up real fine!
