When you celebrate Independence Day, be thankful for this great country that welcomes people from every land on earth—who come bringing their culinary heritage. That’s what has made the United States the most exciting place to learn world cuisines. Among all our national food holidays, July celebrates food holidays that are as American as apple pie (except apple pie is a European invention, and it’s Apple Turnover Day that gets celebrated this month). Pick your food holiday and plan a celebration!

  • National Baked Bean Month
  • National Bison Month
  • National Culinary Arts Month
  • National Grilling Month
  • National Hot Dog Month
  • National Ice Cream Month National
  • July Belongs to Blueberries Month National Ice Cream Day: The Third Sunday

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
As I recall the normal way of celebrating Canada Day is to come on down to the states and spend money. Gotta love those Canadians. ;):joyfull:

Everything here is locked up tighter than a drum, so I suppose some people do head south, but I personally have never done so, nor do I know anyone who has done it.

Generally we do the same thing you guys do three days later. We spend time with family, overeat at large barbecues, and watch fireworks light up the night sky.

Most of the cows staying in the shade and I don't blame them. It's friggin' hot today!

And finally here's Binx and Jinx.

Okay, I'm moving! Who's with me?
Your home and surrounding acreage look heavenly.

For some reason, I had a totally different impression of where you lived.

P.S. One of those goats needs fattening up a bit.

I'm going by when I was in retail back in the 70's. We always braced for the 1st of July when we were literally swamped with Canandans, eh! One of our busiest sales days. My store was only 20 miles from the border so that might have had something to do with it.
That was the border with Quebec, so it might have been different in Ontario.

It is a nice piece of property, but it does come with its downsides. My biggest problem is that we're in the middle of nowhere, and I always hate summer in the South.

The skinny goat is Jinx. We're working on fattening him up. He was pretty skinny when we got him. He also looks different because he's a different kind of goat.

Is that a china serving dish? For street food?
They look good. Strangely, they look citrusy. Are they?

Doing a trip report at some time?

It was in a plastic container, but I guess it looks nicer in the pic. They weren't citrusy, more like teriyaki and Thai chili flavors. I think they had a bit of a fired breaking on them too, but the meat was really tender.

I am planning on doing a trip report, we are still here for a couple days. Since our trip is two weeks long it will probably be a log photo filled trip.
