No Killington - just a little R and R around Lake Champlain. We did a little side trip to Cathedral of the Pines today too in NH.It was so pretty.I'll post pictures when we get back home.
Good old Lake Champlain... where I spent 50 years of my life. Beautiful in the summer, but, it is way to short. Actually, it was 63 years of my life because previous to moving to Vermont I spend my first 15 years in Plattsburgh, NY which is on the west side of Lake Champlain. Just across the pond, so to speak.

The summer between grades nine and ten, I spent two weeks on Isle La Motte. It was glorious.

My best friend didn't tell me about Champy until I was very far out on the lake.

As I've shared before, I think I believe in BigFoot. And for two weeks 34 years ago, I kind of believed in Champy too.

I wonder if it is presently open. A whole bunch of executives were arrested for, if I remember correctly, skimming off profits. That was just recently.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up on that. Actually, there are 6 similar types of mountain speed coasters now (not to be confused with the older mountain slides with those sled-type rigs) in New England. One is out in W. MA, (Berkshire East), 2 in VT (Killington and Okemo), and 3 in NH (Attitash, Gunstock, and Cranmore). So if we go, we'll look at the other locations instead.

I love the ferry ride across the Champlain to Plattsburgh -- so pretty cruising across the water. :) I took it once when I wanted to go see Ausable Chasm, in upstate New York.

I've never been there and always wanted to go. There used to be commercials for it when I was little and I totally forgot it existed until now. I'm going to look into it - that place looked so cool.

It's definitely worth a visit at least once. :) (Note: in summer, it can get very muggy and hot there. Keep in mind, there's a walking tour for part of it--spectacular views. I think it's more enjoyable to walk in cooler weather, but that's just me.)

Read recently that in 2012, they added more attractions; it used to be just the walking tour and then the guided ride with a group on the 32-foot bateau down the gorge--really fun--and I'm happy that I experienced those original bateau rides. Now, they still have the original walking tour, but also have tubing, rafting, hiking and a high-adventure course with rappelling and cables.

Here's one the best descriptive reviews I've read on the net:

Thanks! And I'm totally shocked you prefer the cooler weather. Is this a thing with you?

We're going to drive around the lake today and take a ferry back across. There's a short ferry ride that comes in south of here, so we'll probably do that one. The weather is a little carpy today, so we figured the longer ride across the lake might not be much fun.

I'm just guessing here. I don't know for sure what is happening right now. Okemo is a long way from Killington so I would check first. Remember I haven't lived in the area for the past 5+ years.
